realtime rendition of an sgi cartoon about a hammer that couldn't hit it right. another 'more wild than a demo'-type of thing.. looks quite okay tho, even despite those cheesy wall textures. surprisingly enough, works quite speedy on my office g450. 8)

Really well done, technically speaking... good concept (unluckily not original)... wasn't it at mekka ?
of course it was at mekka! *slaps face* damn..
Nice. Here you can find the original (rendered) one bye Jordi Moragues from '94: http://www.iua.upf.es/~jordi/prods/hit.html
uhm. this is not a Gathering prod. this is mekka prod. A great one though!
ya know, it's exactly like that 3d shows should be. not flybyes for flybyes sake, not objects for showing off routines, but a scenario and a message.
simple idea and good implementation.
Finally a demo that is really funny!
nice idea! nice presentation! nice music/sfx!
but since it's "just" a remake of an existing anim i wouldn't call it a ruler!
if you don't know the original anim yet then download as fast as you can! ;)

Entertaining, but only one idea is not enough for a demo...
high quality visuals, but ripping the idea is not good, it's not creative.
I'm really torn on this demo. It's good and all, but it also happens to be the ultimate in ripping! Ripped soundtrack, and ripped concept from start to finish. Does it rule or does it suck???
Simple, well produced, entertaining, and has a point. Not revolutionary, but quite worth watching IMHO, thus the thumbs up.
Gore, they did the demo as a homage to a very good Imagina video, they did it with the consent and actual help from the author, and that is NOT ripping in my book. Do you think that the amazing C64's "second reality" remake is "ripping, not good, not creative"?? That's ridiculous, especially coming from someone who is using the nick from a very well known (even if inactive) scener.
As someone who has had one of his old demos "remade" by someone else into another form (4K intro), I can tell you it's feels flattering and really warm in the inside, not quite the same as ripping.
Oh well...

I would like to add one point that some of you may be missing... the original video is I think the only spanish production to ever win a prize in the Imagina show, and thus it holds quite dear memories for many of us. It obviously got a lot of exposure over here, and made us believe that good things could come out of our otherwise technologically-unproductive country.
Those dear memories certainly deserved the homage, just like 2nd Reality, Luxo, and other revolutionary productions have been referenced in countless other prods.
Sorry if the point is obvious, but for the sake of clarity...

thom, they had, not only the permission but the wholehearted support of the original author of the Imagina video, as much so as he actually appears in the credits. That ain't quite ripping.
Might be just another 3d shebang, but unlike the winner of that compo, it's got some soul.

SiN: True.
nothing in this demo ! it sucks !
A must see whether you know the original or not. Keep up the wooden hammer spirit!
Nice idea, the demo is average though.
Nice demo!
Just the speed it ran at makes it a thumbs up. Otherwise, I like it a lot because I knew the video before... I don't think one would really enjoy this demo without having seen the video. Worth the download anyway :)
Very Well Made !!
Nice story (yes I know that it's a copy) and a great engine
perfect! reflections on the hammers look incredibly good.
great ! defenitely rockz !
I just saw this in a computer animation film I purchased, Odyssey into the minds eye, Once again really rockz da house.
Cute little hammers
Yes cute and it rocks
great idea !
umm, all i saw was tunnel where read the hit and after that hundreds of hammers hitting.. is it meant to be like that?
Really Nice Idea
unique style, very good
Straight to my heart.
bored me to death.. If I wanted stories, i'd go to the cinema instead.. (flamewar now?)
Out of curiosity what do you want from demos?
style without substance suits me fine. I watch a demo more like I watch a music video. I like that a demo flows and is accompagnied by cool music as it runs. This one kind of "stops". :) Also, a demo like Pandalization by Frogwise which rules in most aspects falls flat in my opinion because of the lack of flow.. (music is interrupted by irritating spot effects and such)...
i don't know... i found it interesting. plus the industrial track is cool.
idea is good (but ripped), hard to be an original/different guy in a society
i thumb up for the idea, realtime version is quite good

ruloz muchos!!
always liked it since first time i watched it at m&s2k2. No matter what, thumb up!
yep :)
Hammer prod!
fun to watch.
nah, here is the thumb.
Yeah, fun is the word. Even slightly thought-provoking. :P I don't really like most storydemos and this one's at the top of the list. I guess it just manages to even produce some effective scenes and doesn't try too much while also actually containing an idea which is why.
I recall having seen the original video somewhere very long time ago, so while i didn't recognize it first, it gave some warm feelings to my heart.
From the quality of execution point of view, this is near perfect. Perhaps the light volumes could have been more real (alpha-carving?), and the shadows under the ventillators have a clear bug.

Cool
ftw no thumb...
here it is.
here it is.
Too many bugs in the shadows. Even for 2002. Loves the story, but as it is a remake, it doesn't count up. Pig.
The original was really great. I saw it on the French TV back in 1994, in a report about the Imagina festival. I had it on a VHS tape, and I watched it over and over again. It was so good.
Now this remake is very accurate. With crisp OpenGL graphics and the nice original soundtrack, it really kicks ass. Plus it has a soul.
Jordy Moragues must be proud. :)

Very good camera direction, and sad story.
