- demo Amstrad Plus Simply the bests! by benediction [web]
- :(
I haven't a CPC (or CPC+) anymore, so I couldn't have seen the text neither...
Effect of color is cool, really nice :) but nothing more than ONE effet? shame :(
I know there isn't many demos releases nowadays, moreover on CPC+. This is not a demo, just a single-screen intro, as people would say today :) - isokadded on the 2001-06-15 15:26:08
- intro Amstrad CPC Madness by Gozeur & Contrast
- One of the top 5 hardware screen (see S&KOH the best example).
Alas! it came too late, in 1994, whereas most people have left the scene...
A good example of RVMB as they used to say (rupture verticale multi-bloc).
I personnaly do not like the design, but it's my... taste :) Anyway, (hard) technics is good. - rulezadded on the 2001-06-15 15:21:54
- demo Amstrad CPC Big'o'Full'o'Dem'o by Arkos [web]
- Nice idea, mixing:
- hardware scroll thanks to splitraster (i.e. changing colors by hardware, but very very fast :P)
- scroll by changing offest (and 8 times the same scroll, each is one-pixel moved)
- pseudo-scroll by XOR onto the previous one
Nice effect, but nothing rocks. - isokadded on the 2001-06-15 15:18:11
- intro Amstrad CPC A Coding Lesson by Antoine
- Optimus wrote it: it's only ONE effect (rotozoom), nothing else. A preview, which shouldn't be released? It would have been great to add a very few things before releasing it.

- demo Amstrad CPC 3D Demo Preview by New Generation Crew
- You wrote it Optimus: all is precalculated!
I'm sure that they were lamers, which have precalculated things in Basic, then put the BIG needed datas on a disk. Think about that: maybe only 3 screens, but a WHOLE 128KB disk is required! Well, I must say: it sucks!
Moreover: the little effects they showed are hum! little effects: not many points/pixels. So littre pixels-code could be done in real-time calculation. See Face Hugger, Odiesoft, Antoine,... One reason more to say: it sucks! - sucksadded on the 2001-06-15 10:38:34
- demo Amstrad CPC Ultimate Megademo by Face Hugger
- Revolution!
Until Face Hugger released this megademo, demo on CPC were nearly hard screens, usingn hardware tricks. This is the first... and the only one, cos' NO OTHER DEMOS has so much soft, especially flat 3D.
Much more to say? well, he did it all and alone, whereas other so-called megademo were written by severel guys.
A top, undoubtly. But people can do better code and optimization: see Madram's Ecole Buissonière, that alas! has got a few messy effet, but whose code is obvisously better than Face Hugger's one.
Hmmm... I shall have put "Rulez" to Ecole Buissionière too, tant pis!
A few more thought... This is mainly a soft demo, which can be re-released on other Z80 computers, who knows? Of course, way of putting sprites is different... Of course, maybe by re-optimization, people can do faster 3D or so, but that's all. I do prefer hardware demo, which can be done ONLY a CPC, with hardware tricks and so on :) Demomaking on CPC is, to my mind, not soft coding, but hackering("bidouiller") in hardware to find the best effect ever...
That's all,
Christophe.

- demo Amstrad CPC The Demo by Logon System
- Rhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!
I should have rated this demo first!
What's the word in English for 'finition'? This is the ONLY cpc demo which is a finished product, even more finished than a few commercial games...
Still today, no demos except this one has so many details:
- works on ALL CRTCs! and CPC+
- number of copies since the original one
- a few released version
- time since demo has launched
- cheat mode
- included demo-copier
- crunching
- NO BUG!
- ...
Again: NO OTHER MEGADEMO has such features. Some have a f..king track-loading which doesn't work on all CPC, some have bug, even in the menu!, MANY don't work on all CRTC, a majority of them are unfinished and/or untested,...
Moreover, for the 1st time:
- a 2-sides megademo (after the 1-side Amazing demo)
- a group with "lot of" people
- cunching parts
- a menu-part
- 2 turn-disc parts
- gfx and zic from ST and/or Amiga
- new hardware technics (one-line rupture)
At least:
- one of the top 10 screen (Longshot's Phoenix part)
Hey! what about ranking not demos but screens/parts???)

- demo Amstrad CPC Ecole Buissoniere by Overlanders [web]
- I saw it for the first time yesterday :)
Well, it's only soft code (a few hardware tricks, for the intro, and for lowering screen size, well done!), a lot of effects, but some are messy. I agree: a lot of pixels move, but what an effect? what is it? Rotozoom is nice and viewable, but after, there is interlaced deformations that aren't nice, or other effects that can't be understood.
I can't say "It rulez", rather "It's Ok". Moving pixels is great, technical, but please don't put messy effect.
Exagerated? maybe... Face Huger's megademo is to my mind still the best soft demo :) - isokadded on the 2001-06-14 10:55:24
- intro Amstrad CPC Shadow Of The Beast Preview by Logon System
- I saw this preview (and the other ones) first time in 1994. But there were screenshots of them in Amstrad Cent-Pour-Cent magazine in 1992, taken for the Euromeeting (where I wasn't :(...) Grrr... Overflow? why didn't you send me there previews back in 1992???
People may think it's easy to do, but problem is that 1-pixel scroll can't be done by hardware (unless: use a CPC+). Used trick is a soft+hard trick :) quite easy to code, but it must have been a pain to time-interpolate ruptures and sprites management.
Hmmm... what about coding it again but on a CPC+? with hardware sprites and hardware 1-pixel scrolls??? No-one cares I guess! ;)

- intro Amstrad CPC S&KOH by Logon System
- Hi Overflow! still alive? do you remember me?
I saw this screen for the 1st time at Noix-de-Croco meeting in october 1991, even if it was released at the end of the year I think. For the time, this was the most technical screen ever made on CPC, with an incredible hardware trick: the main screen is splitted several times on a line! (horizontal rupture?), but in the border (we can't see it...).
Other such technical screen? Hm... Longshot from Logon System showed the way in 1990 with the Phoenix part within the demo (but: only scrollers, design is not as good as in this demo). And then Gozeur wrote Madness, in 1994, with vertical rupture: good technics, but not as nice as this screen.
Other top hardware screen? well, none is as good as this one. Or please tell me :) Anyway, there isn't any here on Pouêt. - rulezadded on the 2001-06-13 15:53:39
