- demo Amiga OCS/ECS Desert Dream by Kefrens
- Favourite demo of all time.
It was the third demo i'd ever seen i think, only a few months after it came out - i was probably about 11 at the time. Loved it ever since. - rulezadded on the 2006-11-19 14:08:50
- wild Animation/Video Desert Dream Remake by Preferredimage [web]
- Argh! It stops at the end of the first scene? So disappointed... :(
The pyramid scene was really the only thing i didn't like about the original... - sucksadded on the 2006-11-19 14:06:09
- demo Linux Windows Solaris - Kiss Our ASSembler by Brainstorm [web]
- Okay, like others said, it wasn't the most original demo ever. Nor does it claim to be.
And though impressive, with the huge CPU power we have today it's not exactly a *huge* achievement either.
BUT: why go to OpenGL? You obviously like software rendering, so why not push the art further? Very few people in the scene are exploring this area. I'd love to see what kind of cool new things can be done in software, that we just haven't thought about the last few years being busy with 3D accelerators.
I've always had a soft spot for software rendering, not just because i admire the code, but also because if done right it doesn't have the seams that OGL/D3D rendering seems to have - most 3D accel demos lack that coherent smoothness, it's more like a bunch of effects you can visibly see have been pasted on top of each other.
Anyway, no need to torture yourself with pure asm ;), but there's nothing wrong with rendering in software. - rulezadded on the 2006-11-13 23:40:49
