- 4k MS-Dos Minesweeper in 3506 bytes by Musk
- I was still learning assembly at the time when I made this. I didnt grasp the concept of memory all that well. I have preallocated buffers in the file with zeroes. The point wasn't sizecoding, it just happened to fit under 4k

- A very stylish 256b indeed. Thank you for supporting the party. I'll make sure the stream works properly next year.

- How to run: use a PC which supports 320x200 resolution !!!!!!!
I had troubles running this at the compo. After debugging I found out the reason why the exe dies is because its trying to switch to 320x200 resolution.
Modern video cards don't allow that. I managed to run it on my laptop which has good compatibility with legacy stuff and supports strange resolutions and video modes. - isokadded on the 2017-05-17 10:41:46

- @HellMood ... not a bad idea ;)
@tomaes, by a beautiful goat from our group who is mentioned at the top of the comment list ;)
Also, I'm starting to doubt I coded this. Maybe it was the alcohol. - isokadded on the 2015-04-10 12:53:13

- Trikk, well, given all these technical limitations it could be easily ported to a variety of platforms. The dependencies are
- win32 API for setting up a window
- bass.dll for mp3 playback
- openGL for rasterizing a bunch of circles
- C/C++ standard library (probably not an issue)
Actually a linux port would only require me to replace the win32 API section...
A textmode port requires the replacement of openGL with textmode based rasterizer - isokadded on the 2015-04-08 08:56:24

- Wow, thanks! I never expected this to win 3rd place...
The claim that it's OpenGL 1.0 might be false. I'm not using any extensions but it might be the case that some of the functions are not 1.0 . . . I have no idea about this. But I'm guessing since no extensions are used then 1.0 it is :)
Why the OpenGL 1.0 limitation? Because of my trusty old laptop. It has an Intel GPU with bad drivers.
I chose to write it on my laptop because that allowed me to work on this literally anywhere. I worked this during boring obligatory courses. I worked on this at home when I was home and not sleeping and during the trip to revision whenever I could find enough space to be able to comfortably write code and not get distracted.
The features I used is additive blending mode, the fixed pipeline lighting system, display lists, GL_NORMALIZE. The CPU is tasked with perspective projection, computing the color. - isokadded on the 2015-04-07 20:07:54

One of the constraints of this project was to keep the original effects. The only differenece between the textmode version is this is the renderer. Well and different post process. And there were some bugfixes in the code.
So yeah, there are a few parts that don't hold up as well at this resolution.
Fun fact, approx 184135680000 individual pixels were rendered across at least 5 different computers. - isokadded on the 2014-10-08 08:40:53
