- 1k Windows futurism by Still [web]
- maybe my comment was too harsh. i just see a lot of missed opportunity in this intro, but if you didn't plan to go further with it anyway, i guess it makes sense.

- i guess it's just my machine then. it wouldn't be the first time :)
i saw the video and looked through the sources. i couldn't help but notice that the shader is basically identical to the one posted on fractal forums. it is formulated in the same naive branchy manner and even the variables are named similarly, which is strange as i would expect a shader in a 1k to be heavily obfuscated.
if the least bit of effort had been put into this it could have been both faster and smaller (more space for interesting stuff).
but i have seen much worse. piggie it is. - isokadded on the 2010-04-10 00:31:25
- 1k Windows futurism by Still [web]
- runs here on windows 7, but all i get is a black screen on my 5850 :/
the screenshot reminds me of the mandelbox fractal. is it the mandelbox? - isokadded on the 2010-04-10 00:00:12
- demotool Windows Crinkler by Loonies [web] & TBC
- hitch: sorry, i completely forgot about your e-mail. it seems you are not the only one having problems with crinkler 1.2. Blueberry has been looking into the issue, so we will hopefully know something soon. Are you by any chance on an AMD system? :)

- 512b JavaScript JSpongy by Ribbon [web]
- I never understood the fascination with javascript as a demoplatform, but this literally made me LOL :)
Also, i'm sure someone can do a faster and smaller version on amiga :) - rulezadded on the 2009-10-23 20:04:16

- sure. i believe you got my e-mail at function. if not, just use 'mynick at crinkler net'. I'm excited to hear about your discoveries :)

- 128b MS-Dos Spongy by TBC
- jaw: it initializes a palette of 64 shades of grey. 16 colors looks horrible, unless you apply some sort of dithering.

- 128b MS-Dos Spongy by TBC
- tigrou: it's brute force. it performs 256 constant length steps, which also explains why it's so slow.
unfortunately i don't see any other way of doing it in 128 bytes without sacrificing the camera or palette code.
my first attempt was even slower as i traced everything back to front. it made the logic simpler, but turned out to simply be too slow as you can't perform any early out optimizations. - isokadded on the 2009-10-10 12:04:55
