- I don't really see why a demo should be entered at a compo but not uploaded to Pouet. Certainly not on the grounds of a final being "done in a couple of years".
That said, I actually enjoyed this demo. Sure it's primitive, but something about it kept me interested. I liked the buildup at the middle. - rulezadded on the 2010-08-09 09:59:55
- demo Windows First Play by Koomadot
- (Not directed at the creator of this demo, just to be clear on that point: even though I thought this demo was awful, I wish him the best of luck with future productions.)

- mrp-: If that's your attitude concerning criticism, I won't be missing you at "those smaller parties". Just stay in your own egalitarian wonderland where no criticism, no matter how constructive, is tolerated.

Plz guys, tell me what i need to do better, then i can learn. You "this is shit" commentators are shit too, if you can't tell me what is wrong with this demo!
1. This was your first production. Pouet is full of examples of why you shouldn't release your first production. Looking back on this later, you'll realise it yourself.
2. This isn't an oldschool demo. This is a collection of effects that were done 20 years ago on 20 year old hardware, running here - in inferior form, even - on a modern PC. If you want to make oldschool demos, learn to code for an oldschool platform. If you want to code for modern PCs, learn what you can actually do with them. - sucksadded on the 2010-08-09 09:07:46
- demo Windows Abysmal Invaders by Pyrotech
- Trace, no, we're thumbing it down because it's hideously ugly, poorly paced (just count the seconds of dead time between lines in the dialogue, for Christ's sake), and the humour, which is supposed to be the essence of this production, is even at best an embarrassing collection of computer and video game culture references.
So, it's a shitty jokeprod. We've all seen those before. The fact that aliens saying "WTF", "ppl", "1337" and "LOL" is enough for the voters at Assembly is another matter, one that we're also lamenting.
Make no mistake, though: even if this had placed last (which it wouldn't have deserved, since that KoomaDot piece of shit was even worse), we'd still thumb this down. - sucksadded on the 2010-08-09 08:46:44
- demo Windows Happiness is Around the Bend by Andromeda Software Development [web]
- Typically frustrating ASD scrapbook of demo concepts with no rhyme or reason.
If you look at just about any scene in itself, it's not only obviously technically advanced, but also visually inventive, and a proof there IS a certain type of creativity there that's rarely parallelled on the scene. However, again, that creativity is unfortunately hidden under a whole heap of mess, and a complete inability to string it all together coherently.
Still, the morphing tractor or whatever was awesome, so piggy. - isokadded on the 2010-08-08 12:32:12

- demo Linux Windows MacOSX PPC Gloomy Sunday by Bilotrip [web]
- You chose a wonderful song for this one, but I have to admit that throughout the demo I just couldn't grasp what the motivation behind this thing could be.
