admin: delete fake prods!
category: general [glöplog]
no.. this thing wouldn't be THAT easy I suggest. User management in php are always very complicated..
I don't think that analogue has problems in giving rights to other users..
I think that he just lacks of time doing this..

Much of what have been said is really good stuff and it will be funny to see what analouge thinks of all this.
analouge,
pretty pretty please,
with sugar on top,
REMOVE THE ABILITY TO ADD PICTURES TO POSTS!

ok. apparently this is getting out of hand. my suggestions:
1. getting an account should be harder.
2. idiot spammers should be deleted.
nothing more. unpopular opinions are one thing - tricks another - but straightforward vandalism.. sigh.
hey i know, let's go around zapping wikiwebs out of existence. that'll be even easier. man, that's like life if anything.

Well, and all of our posts here won't be able to do anything _positive_ nor _negative_ if we'll never knwo if analogue will even _read_ these suggestions here at least! ;-)
So ... HELLO ANALOGUE....someone home!?
PLEASE give us a life-sign (and a personal comment maybe as well!?) that you are reading all this here at least as well! ;-)
Thanks a LOT... ;-)
(maybe someone should forward really _important_ discussion topics here to him in private mail as a backup!? ;-))) )

From the FAQ:
:: general :: how to edit a prod ?
it's not possible yet.
for now, if you find a mistake on a submitted prod, just send a mail to the webmäster by specifying which prod is involved and what is wrong with it.
later, when the moderators engine will be up and running, moderators will be able to modify the prods themselves.
So it looks like some work is planned...

I think that pouet could go back to normal easily if all posts by known spammers will be deleted... I can't see that being too hard, just something DELETE * FROM posts, prods, avatars WHERE user_id = 182 (this ofcourse being a completely random user_id) or whatever. Hey presto, instant pouet-cleanup.
Here's an idea that may help.. New accounts cannot post for 'x' days. This will stop people repeatedly generating new fake accounts to post spam. It also means people behave a little more carefully as a ban on their account means they have to re-register and wait for 'x' days before posting again.
That's not practicable. Just image someone needs to say something urgently. Like, "here's a fix for problem xy". To let people wait for a week in order to activate their account is no solution.
And one has to remember that lamers will just make a number of accounts prior to their forays.
No need to delete fake prods, just ignore them, do not comment on them, do not vote on them. They'll slide into oblivion, and their spammer with it.
i disagree. fake prods continue to be an annoyance whenever you browse the prod list. heck, we already have fake prods attributed to real groups. that sucks big time. and how do you know if and when the spammer(s) will stop?
delete that crap.
delete that crap.
a troll is thriving for attention.
I'm there:
- The user account thingie is under a rewrite by some other big scene site. I can't tell you more about this, I'm under NDA ^^
- There is already a prod-editor which has been given to the only actual moderator, stil. He handles it pretty well and fast so there is no need for more moderators for now.
- There is already a prod-deletor which can only be used by me.
- All request about editing/deleting sent to [email protected] are processed, maybe I should use a bold 75pt font to hilight the mail at the bottom ^^
- When you see a fake/spam prod, you are free to comment it, just don't forget to send a mail about it too, for example, the prods on the top of this thread were getting like 20+ comments but no one sent me a mail. If you feel that it's really needed, I'll add a ask for moderation link on each prod.
- I could check the size of an inline picture hosted elsewhere, but it will be way to heavy for the scene.org server to handle. What I can do is stop inlining pictures and just show a link to the pictures. Any comment on this ?
- I don't plan to moderate BBS/comments. As I always said, I like free-speech. Only those posts with 3000x3000px pictures or 50000<br> should be notified to [email protected] and deleted.
- I'm not monitoring the BBS. Don't use it for reports, use [email protected] please, pretty please ^^
