SpacePigs Megedemo (286/COVOX/Hires/Lowres EGA)
Perhaps the best Demo for EGA so far.

Perhaps the best Demo for EGA so far.
Best EGA-Intro I have seen so far. Smooth scene effects.

Codewise, CGA has been explored of late but EGA still feels like an untapped well. Or did Carmack use up all the glory? The limitations are interesting from a pixel art perspective as well, even if they've been thoroughly exhausted by some great point'n'click games.
Maybe a slightly different topic but if someone wanted to make a new production for EGA, which CPU would you consider plausible?

I would aim for 8086 or 286 :)

Yeah, maybe.
Back in the days we had EGA in a 8088-PC on an amber monitor - absurdly a PC from Atari.
A friend had an 8bit EGA extension-card in a Schneider Euro PC (also 8088 and probably only sold in Germany).
Both platforms are already far surpassed by a certain CGA demo, though.
My collection of DOS machines at home currently starts at 486DX - quite far ahead of EGA times.
Seems somewhat difficult to find a niche that makes sense...

Yeah, I had EGA in both 8088 and later 286 back in the days, which is why I probably would aim for the higher end of those machines. Would need to get myself a 286 first though :D

Perhaps Pouet could add an exchange platform for demo coding hardware... ;)

Euro PCs were relatively common here in Finland too, I have one in my collection. Also the equally absurd Euro AT was sold here.
PC/XT = Hercules and CGA
AT/286 = EGA
386/486 =VGA
PENTIUM = sVGA
286/8 or 10Mhz would be ideal für the "final" EGA Demo ;)

Scali made at least a few!
I played with CGA bust mostly went with int ax,13h int 10h (MCGA) like a lazy fancy boy.
