POUET.NET is hacked / infected with a javascript worm
category: general [glöplog]
p01: The point is to have an easy-to-use system for enabling some scripts while having most other scripts disabled instead of a global enable/disable. I'm a big fan of NoScript, thanks to it I never had to "experience" the Limp Ninja Pouët hack, just to name an example. I don't care if Opera has built-in fine-grained script-control (as I expect was what you intended to say with your post), that browser's interface just makes me angry.
stefan: I guess you're talking about JSON. I know JSON have improved but when I last looked at it was : slow, prone to script injection & data corruption, did not support all EcmaScript types of variables. Douglas Crockford's reharsing that JSON is safe without any proof did not convince me one bit. I never looked seriously at JSON again, and so did every JavaScript dev around me.
kusma: Agreed! And no, there was no trick in my answer. I really meant that for some/non-power users, disabling scripting altogether is not a bad thing.

Well, that's why I use firefox with no-script installed. Nobody getting through that way without my permission!
and what if you enabled permission for pouet.net before...?
Hey,
I got my own site at www.treat-cancer.nl and I recently got infected on one of my sites. Fortunately I removed the infection immidiately.
When I scanned my system I found no trojan horse or a virus, but it appears that the trojan horse is in fact hidden with a "rootkit".
When I ran the antivirus in DOS mode (before starting windows), I did found a trojan horse and a rootkit program, which I removed immidiately. See log:
File C:\WINNT\system32\aspimgr.exe is infected by Win32:Rootkit-gen [Rtk], Deleted
File C:\WINNT\Temp\~ie5E1.exe is infected by Win32:Renos-KE [Trj], Deleted
I really hope that the hacker(s) have not recovered any of my passwords or credit card number(s).

You should also look for the file called braviax.exe, it may contain a trojan horse/ virus.
So liek, you made an account on pouet just to tell us about how risky is a rootkit? nigga srsly.
what's wrong with that?
gargaj: Everything! Everyone KNOWS that the only real reason to register on Pouet is to create yet another fake user and post random images and troll around. Trying to be helpful is just so.. so.. counterintuitive for someone like irokos.
Don't act like a pussy gloom, you'd have been the first to reply the very same thing as me to what he said. And putting me in the same bag as trolls/fake users/images posters is seriously not fitting. I'm in none of those categories. And trying to be helpful is sooo not my thing, that's surely why i'm gloperator. A bit paradoxal, eh?

Highly subjective.
Hah. Find only one image i posted, and you'll make my day. Find any IP corresponding to any fakeuser which is the same as my static IP, and i'll offer you a beer. Or even two.
I'm just saying, your generally passive aggressive tone in posts could also be considered "trolling". You just never know. By the same token, many people may find StevenC's informative post, well, informative.
Horses for courses and all that.
Horses for courses and all that.
My post for sure could be considered as trolling, but in this very case i rather was pointing out the fact that he registered in here just to tell us how he removed a rootkit on his machine. It's cool, yes. But how informative is that? This thread talks about it from its beginning, it's not as if noone would even know about what he's talking about. Which is why i replied to it this way. Well, and if by that fact the almighty gloom thinks i'm a troll, go for it.

you DO know it's one SQL query :P
He might also be promoting his cancer-page a bit...
Go for it Gargaj. If i recall correctly, I posted images of a 500% zoomed in thumb up picture on some prod pages. Beside, one GIF (or even not, it was only a link, hah!) in the Random Gif thingie thread, and maybe one picture (or was it a link too?) in the Random Images thread. If you call that trolling, i'll call myself Santa Claus from now on.
rarefluid, i thought about that too. But if i had said it, gloom would have called me paranoid and stuff. I prefer being a troll than a paranoid for my reputation :D
*me tickles irokos under teh chin....relax don't worry about it! :o
he also bumped a 5 month old thread.
hihi irokos is so cute when he's mad!
indeed- i imagine stamping feet on the ground, waving clenched fist with baguette in the air... ;D
too bad he doesn't habitually wear a moustache and baret ;D

Sacrebleu! it's beret, not baret.
*adjust my moustache and beret, and stamp feet on the ground, waving clenched fist with a baguette in the air*

irokos: Wow, a bit testy today, are we? Not in the joking mood? Jeez, put down that baguette and relax those bitch-muscles a bit :)
