FS: A synthesizer

I decided to venture to the dark side by acquiring some analog synths :D
which is the golden path, after all :D
my advice: keep the synth unless your life depends upon the few bucks you can make by selling it.
FS: A new challenger?
Because I thought I could actually used an already settled thread and shamefully hi-jack it for posting my blog post about my dx7mkII, that I am selling:
http://www.mynameiskaneel.com/blog/2012/06/03/bybye-dx7-mkii-i-insist/
But I know that is almost impossible to cheap these beauties for a reasonable price so if anybody wants to visit Paris on the same time... you know, combowin ;)

that reminds me.. I still got a TG-500 around here (512k sample RAM IIRC).
It's been used quite a lot in the 1990ies drum'n'bass scene.
but I don't wanna give it away unless you want to pay up some unreasonable amount of money ;)
(i.e. it's probably a keeper \o/)
dx7 sounds nice, though but I already got a FS1-R. which I still love. very much. :)

FS1R is one hell of a bitch to program seriously.
And please please please, it's a markII, I INSIST :)

knl: yey, FS1-R is truly a challenge (which is diplomatic for "it's a bitch to program!" - I agree) but it sounds mighty nice :D

.. at least the FS1R sounds much better than an OPL3.
dude, I know, thanks :)
It's a dx7 + more stuff like microtuning, performance (split/layer 2 voice multi-timbral) - wind of siberia.
So I insist indeed it's a markII, not a simple single dx7 ;)

trc_wm: hej, it's worlds apart from an ordinary OPL3. but you know that. <3
That being said (that we all have an amazing synthesizer culture) I would love to get a hand on a TG 33. Or a TQ 5.
ps: I have a sh101 red version on my left... but it's not mine :(

never mind, I friend of mine got hold of one of these..
(I'm sooo jealous ;))
(I'm sooo jealous ;))
The friend who lent me the sh101 used to have a Jupiter 8 and she had it when I visit her in NYC... At least, I can say I played a bit on it and I'm already happy with this simple fact. Now, I wish I would play on any of the yamaha CS series (except the CS01 which I already owned.. and it was a funny one for sure!... but didnt hit the markII :D)
another synth I would really like to tinker with if I had the small change:
(at least I got me a Tetra :))

This might be the right thread for it: I need to have my TB-303 serviced. There are some odd note-misses during programming sessions, and sometimes it has some other small playback issues. I knew this guy in Norway but he's no longer doing synth servicing, so I'm looking for people close by (Denmark, Sweden, Germany etc.) who are known to be reliable and skilled. Anyone know of anyone I can contact?
Btw, anybody from Oslo selling synths as I'm visiting by the end of July? :)
Nice that someone's resurrected this thread, since I too have to sell some synthesizers, since I'm facing some serious money-related troubles...
I think I'm going to give away my beloved Juno 106 - I changed all the VCF chips, so they are not going to die - an Oberheim OB-12, an Ensoniq ESQ-1, a rare and obscure string machine, the Farfisa Sintorchestra 4 and a Korg Wavestation A/D. Next, when I'll finish servicing them, I think I'm going to sell my Fender Chroma Polaris and the Wersi Stage Performer mkI, a rare additive FFT-based keyboard.
Gloom, sorry, but I no longer have time for servicing other people synthesizers (and I'm too far away for doing it, anyway), but I'll ask some musician friends of mine.

zerothehero: are you sure I can't persuade you? :) Please check with any other reliable service-people you might know. Shipping is no problem.
Gloom I might be able to help, mail me a detailed lists of faults you're experiencing.
If you happen to be in town for, say, Assembly, I would likely be able to handle simple stuff like switch replacements during the visit. Schedule thing really.

el-bee: I will be, actually. I'll bring the 303 then. I'll send you a mail.
Oh and just to update on the Virus B sale, well, I sourced money elsewhere so the sale is closed for now.
I even recently got into programming some dubstep wobblage (non-demoscene stuff) with the Virus, so I guess it's safe to call it being back-in-use for some future demoscene releases too :)

I've started considering the opportunity of buying a Virus synth... but now I'm wondering about buying a nord rack 2
kaneel: they're both really good, but for versatility I give a nod to the Virus.
Some nod in direction of the Nord because they found the Virus way too "silly" on its sound. I guess I'll have to borrow one.
A friend lent me (just, yesterday) a nord rack 2x, I have already a good feeling about it.

Check the aliasing on the Nords; the older models are complete shit.
A good recipe for doing this:
Turn all effects off, all filters to bypass, select only one oscillator, set it to a high frequency sawtooth, somewhere above a few kHz, play a note and slowly wiggle the pitchbend. If you hear just a saw, fine! if you hear a saw wave embedded in digital noise and suprious tones, stay away.
The virus has very little (if any) aliasing; Kristof Kemper, the designer, knows his stuff. Waldorf synths also have minimal aliasing (except for the Wave & microwave I). The early Nords are shit, but I havent tried the newer models.
Use headphones for the test.
