Who is your fave demo critic on Pouet?

category: general [glöplog]
Is there a user you like to read comments from most or which you trust most?

I vote Spengler! :)

Mine =) I trust them every time I don't remember how was a demo and previously wrote it was crap =)

I barely remember what I commented on a couple days ago, never mind someone else.
... read "myself".
mine was related to the comments, not the user.
Sorry for being so lame to make such a mistake, and being even more lame to correct myself (or should I write to correct "mine"?)

Spengler is the polar opposite of keen insight and taste.

Well, Zone and psonice actually posts constructive messages unlike 99% of poueters. Optimus sometimes when he doesn't bloat the message with his rants and hopes on becoming the "scene idol" mega-star.

Damn lator for pretty much everything he posts, I have yet to see constructive criticism from his part =).

You trust DiamonDie on judjing demos? GOOD LUCK!

You have to hear her say things like "this is sh*t, modern computers are fast enough for anything..." Grrrrrr. With that "expertise" - no!

Recently I think Gargaj has been giving some decent thought into his reviews. Or maybe it was BoyC. Or one of those Conspiracy guys.

Well, whatever. Who cares.
stefan!

Before downloading, i take a look to the thumb and the comment(s) of (no particular order):
Optimus, Bhead, Gargaj, Thom, flrent, Poï², Canonball, Break + the first & last who comment the prod ... and probably some others too
Well, normally I read a couple of comments and if people are just saying that the prod is pure shit I download it just too get me a laugh. ;-)
The nice thing with taste is that it's nearly impossible to think the same thing as someone else so I nearly download every newly added prod just to see it and get me self an opinion about it.
Sometimes i'm constructive in my comments, why don't you belive in my good judgement? :-D

Nosfe, Spengler, DiamonDie.
if Nosfe is thumbing it down, it has a great chance of being good.
the second one thumbing something up is either a razor prod where i tend to ignore his namevoting, or something good.
and if it passes diamondie compatibility labs then it'll most likely run any piece of crap out there :)
well, and for a good laugh i'd never miss splek or stefan...

but most of the time just do a blink-average of ups/downs.

I haven't really thought that. I am not even sure if I can answer "me". There are surelly some people, matching my demo preferences, but I can't remember them now. No matter, an analyzed comment is always what I wish and say more, rather than a plain "It rules! It sucks!". Or a screenshot.

wade. no question about it. having his thumb down is an absolute prerequisite for good stuff.

i just look for those medium length comments, that are long enough to say something useful, but not long enough to be from optimus.

Teh greatest shit in comments, are technical details. So,. I would say, coders speaking about their little babies :))
added on the 2004-03-17 16:01:22 by Optimus Optimus
Um, Optimus, if you want technical details you could always just *email* the coders. Unless you overload their mailboxes, ofcourse. Keep in mind that most mailboxes are 5-10mb maximum.

Sometimes I do. But generally, it is easier for them to give answers in a thread, rather than having to reply to a lot of diferrent emails. Also, coders discussions saying how they did some things and getting respond and questions is the best for them and interesting for me. It's not always easy for me to mail every coder, I am afraid that a lot may not answer, so I prefer to read their comments. Only when I am really curious how some things are possible or when I know the coders better..

Thanks 216, glad I can be helpful. :)

I probably trust Spengler's judgement a lot too.
