Although it is not the most sofisticated demo in the world, it DOES support both ADLIB and SOUNDBLASTER. It also needs an 1 MB SVGA card, 'cause it is partly written in the SVGA 1024*768 256 color mode, which is also the reason why it is called SVGA demo, and not VGA demo or something... If you don't have a 1 MB SVGA card in your computer the first part of the demo will work perfectly, but when the demo arrives at the SVGA parts your computer is most likely to lock up. Here is a list of the features of this demo: Features: --------- - ASCII, CGA, VGA and SVGA support - Great Adlib FM music - A pair of awesome SounbBlaster digital sounds - Fast and Flawless Soundcard-detection routines - A cool but almost useless Setup-program - The tinyest scroll ever seen on any computer. (FIVE pixels high!) Technical information: ---------------------- This demo has been created in Borland Pascal 7.0. (Sorry guys, but I couldn't get the SVGA .BGI driver linked with the main program.) The grafix have been created in Deluxe Paint II Enhanched and the music has been composed as a .ROL file in Adlib Composer. Then I converted the music to a .GMF file so I could use it with Lennart Bakker's THE GAME KIT, which I used to play to music in the background. (By the way, Lennart's music-handler bugs with large files, so I had to end the song in a rather silly way or the last notes of the song would keep playing for ever and ever.) Credits: -------- Programming: The Watcher Music: The Watcher Grafix: The Watcher ( P.C. Clan logo created by Graphtech ) Design: The Watcher Sounds: Ripped by Acid & The Watcher Thanx to: Acid, for helping me out with the text for the scroll The Unstoppable Hacker Bunch: ----------------------------- TUHB is just a group of people willing to create nice programs on their computers and maybe even make some money with it. Although all of our programs are English, all TUHB members are Dutch. TUHB's biggest problem is that we don't have enough programmers, artists, musicians and (ofcourse) money. Currently we have 1 artist/musician, 1 pending artist, 1 programmer/musician (me, that is), 1 guy helping me out with my programs and 2 guys giving some moral and programming support for some of TUHB's program's. Here comes the list: ÚÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÂÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ¿ ³ Name: ³ Function: ³ ÃÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÅÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ´ ³ The Watcher ³ Programmer/Musician ³ ³ Acid ³ Moral support/Programming Assistant ³ ³ Graphtech ³ Artist/Musician ³ ³ TFM ³ Pending Artist ³ ³ Claws ³ Programming Assistant ³ ³ The Avenger ³ Moral Support ³ ÀÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÁÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ If you are a programmer, (graphical) artist or musician, please contact us. We desperately need you! You can contact us by mail or by phone. You can also modem to us to a friend of our, who was cool enough to provide us with a home-bbs. Send all your mail to the following address: Frans Halsstraat 27 2712JS Zoetermeer Nederland Or you can make contact with us through the following BBS: Westpoint II Hoogvliet (010)4382548 ( in Holland ) V22, V22b, V32, V32b, V42, V42b or NMP5 on 14400 Bps Leave a message for Graph Tech. If you want to contact us by phone, here is my phone-number: 079-164296 Ask for Paul-Jan. (Please speak Dutch on the phone, or my folks go nuts.) See the next few paragraphs if you want to know the things we demand from artists/programmers/musicians. Graphical Artists: ------------------ You are MOST wanted! Even though we have one great graphical techician ( that's why his tag is GraphTech ) we still need a whole lot of artists to provide us with enough pictures to make our games. The only thing we demand from you is that you are able to draw nice pictures in the VGA 320x200 256 color mode. You DON'T have to be able to draw on paper. If you contact us by mail, please send a printed sample of your work, or a disk with some of your pictures on it. Don't fear we might think that your drawing ain't good enough - Believe me, we'll take everyone we can get! If we can get enough artists, we could even write a graphical adventure, which is a lot of fun to create... Programmers: ------------ TUHB currently has just one programmer. (Although he is great,) we still need more. If we can get enough programmers, we could develop different programs at the same time, and maybe even start to make some money. We need programmers in every language - Pascal, C, Assembler, we don't care. We will even take Basic- programmers if they are good enough, but what we need the most are Assembler programmers who can program small but very useful routines, for example to scroll the screen, which I can incorporate in my Pascal programs. If you apply to our call for help by mail, please send one of your programs (if you have finished any). Musicians: ---------- Although TUHB already has two marvelous musicians, we can always use more. We especially need people who can create .MOD, .NST and Scream Tracker files, but .ROL and Midi-file creators are also welcome. If we are going to write bigger games like adventures and stuff, we really are going to need a LOT of music. If you are going to contact us by mail, please send a sample of your work along (on disk or tape). The music must be composed BY YOU, not ripped from someone else. Fees: ----- As said before, The Unstoppable Hacker Bunch mainly creates programs for fun. But if enough people apply to our call for help, we could really start making programs, and thus start making some money in the shareware-zone. If we make any profits, any member of TUHB who helped creating the program will get a share based on the amount of work he has done. I can't promise piles of gold, but who knows? Support: -------- If you enjoyed this program, or you just want to spend some money, please send some cash to the address mentioned before. We will use it to develop new programs, and to make the professional pogrammers wish shareware never existed. Always remember: Whatever you do, I'll be WATCHING you! -The Watcher, 14-7-1994-
