I. ROM sets for the Arkanoid arcade machine
1. arkcrsn5.zip -> Cruisin 5 by Abyss
2. arktrain.zip -> Arkanoid 101% Crack
+ Trainer by Pyrodex + Royal Connexion
3. arktraid.zip -> Arkanoid 101% Crack
+ Trainer by Pyrodex + Royal Connexion / Demo Version by Abyss
II. how to create arktrain.zip & arktraid.zip
1. be sure to have Python3.5+ installed,
for Windows e.g. from the store:
https://apps.microsoft.com/store/detail/python-311/9NRWMJP3717K
2. run BuildGameRoms.py once: e. g. via "python3 BuildGameRoms.py"
III. how to use
1. write these files to empty 27C256 EPROMS and insert the chips
in your arcade board...
for each of our 3 releases:
ic81-v.3f -> ROM 1
ic82-w.5f -> ROM 2
for arkcrsn5 and arktraid only
(for arktrain you can use the orginal GFX ROMs):
1-ic33.2c -> ROM 3
2-ic34.3c -> ROM 4
3-ic35.5c -> ROM 5
in case you find a ROM 6 (aka MCU the copy protection chip)
on your board throw it away and connect these pins instead:
7 <-> 11
20 <-> 12
21 <-> 13
22 <-> 14
23 <-> 15
24 <-> 16
25 <-> 17
26 <-> 18
27 <-> 19
after our own replacement hack we found this project which might
be more convenient for you:

2. MiSTer -> copy all 4 ROM sets from "roms" to "games/mame" on
MiSTer and copy "MiSTer/*.mra" to "_Arcade/_alternatives/_Arkanoid"
on MiSTer
3. MAME -> copy all 4 ROM sets from "roms" to "roms" of MAME once for
starting one of them: copy one of our 3 releases to arkatayt.zip
inside the roms folder and start mame without CRC checks via
"mame arkatayt" on the command line ATTENTION: Current MAME
emulation is good enough for Arkanoid but not for this demo.
Of course Bartman fixed this already, hopefully
MAME integrates his patches soon.
IV. DIP switches / special inputs
arkcrsn5:
- "Credits Dipswitch" #7:
off -> select AY-3-8910
on -> YM2149
(search for one of these on your board and adapt this switch)
(setting this wrong means to pitch the tune by one octave)
- "Test Mode / Service Dipswitch" #3
off -> auto continue after 13s on guru and reboot screen
on -> 5min -> aka film mode ;-
(coin needed to continune at guru
start p1 or p2 to continue at reboot)
- "Difficulty Dipswitch" #4
off -> squeeze out
on -> tear apart the ???
arktrain & arktraid:
- "Credits Dipswitch" #7:
off -> normal mode,
on -> skip trainer menu -> aka party mode ;-)
- start p1 + p2 + fire -> three-finger salute (aka soft restart)
V. potential problems
1. slow downs on real hardware
in case you encounter slow downs of the demo this is caused by
underclocking the Z80B to 3MHz (whyever) which mig be easy to fix
by changing the soldered jumper JP5 (see 2-F8 in the schematics)
