Versus by Seven/Fulcrum ----------------------- fulcrum.antisoc.net It's been a very long time since I last made a 4K (think VESA video, DOS protected mode and adlib sound), so this 4K procedural gfx thingie was the perfect occasion to dip my toes in the Windows-4K waters: no music or animation etc needed. My assembler knowledge was very rusty as well, but in the end I didn't really need to do byte-hunting (lack of time was a bigger problem than lack of diskspace). Anyway, it was fun and I'm quite satisfied with the result. Hope you like it too! The intro was written for BP08, which had a HD widescreen, so if you watch it on a non 16/9 monitor it will look squeezed. Final version that fixes that may or may not be coming in the future. There's no loading bar since the rules at BP disallowed it, be patient as the rendering can take several minutes on slow computers. No shaders or whatever advanced stuff is used, it's pure software rendering to a full-screen texture The picture is build up using: - a mandelbrot fractal with pickover stalks for the sky. - a mandelbrot fractal with binary decomposition showing embossed marmer tiles. - 6 different flame fractals for the red and blue pieces on the chessboard - gaussian noise, glare, and various cheap lighting tricks.
