Me rikey. Music gets a bit weird at times, but that tunnel thing at the beginning is pretty damned cool. Get this one if you've missed it.
Reminds me of Sunflower's new dull stuff, but is better. Nice colors, some nice looking effect combinations. Good design.
I happen to like this, although the music is rather flat and not fitting in the beginning, (besides some significant muffler drum samples ;)). Overall, a good demo.
i didn't really like it
I didn't really hate it
I love it

exposed to this off the chscene cd. oh my god does the music own! I think this group is really damn talented.
Not much to say, simply a good prod.
It's pretty good, but it totally failed to appeal to me. Not sure why, maybe it's just not standing out from the crowd enough?
very good, i love the mood
cool effects
Good music and feeling.
DirectX 7 error ?!
i have DX9 and when you install XP DX8 is here so ?

nice sync, but unimaginative visuals a bit.
Whoa, forgot all about this one, still rocks ... great feel throughout
Rather ordinary, isn't it?
=)
I watched it over and over again, wondering if it's deserving of a thumbs up. I must say I like it enough for that but this suffers from the same thing addict's television does, it just seems a little rough on the edges.
Things like fonts lacking any stylizing and the kaleidoscope-tunnel walls showing the credit sprites that were also on the screen just does not look good. Also I feel the glowing cubes should've really glowed, now there were flares in their center at times which really annoyed me. Finally, the last effects aren't much to look at, I would've hoped to see the best stuff when the vocals kick in but that just was not to be I guess.
Anyway, could've been better in some ways but doesn't detract from it enough to make it a piggy in my mind.

Boring.
Greate tune with nice visuals
doesn't work on dx9.
but i remember i saw it on my old computer(shitty dx7 gfx card and windows me) :)
unfortunately it doesnt work on my new computer.
pity :(
and i think it's still one of the best addict demos... however my favourite is "Liquid forms".

shex composed new soundtrack for "Volatile 2" in 2oo1.
yhmm, unfortunately the project was not finished :(

This was one of the first demos i ever saw. For some reason I love it
Unlike many early hw-rendering demos, this one is fun to watch even after 11 years... Nice colors, good looking transparency and ofcourse THE MUSIC.
Nice saw this on Mindcandy on Birdie 18
still pretty cool. esp the music
Doesn't seem to work on Windows 7 64bit, HD5870, 12GB DDR3 RAM, 6-core
and DX11 installed. It gives me an error saying that I need DX7 or higher. So this is for older computers and not for newer ones??? :-(

This demo tries to initialize DirectDraw with a wrong monitor GUID.
I did a quick executable patch and now runs on the primary monitor (Win7) but I'm unsure if I'm allowed to distribute it.

Also, the tunnel looks beautifully in stereo3D through dgVoodoo2.

Dege, don't hesitate and distribute it. I lost the source code a long time ago, so can't recompile it for newer systems. Does it run on Win8/10 now?
Cheers!
Ok, I've uploaded a patch:
http://dege.fw.hu/Patches/VolatilePatch.zip
- I don't know if it runs natively on Win8/10, I tried only on Win7.
- It should run with dgVoodoo2 though but unfortunately I realized that
the latest released version won't run with it because of a bug.
I used a fixed version for myself so the fix will only be available in the next release.

Captured using the patch above. Found an older capture but it was definitely SD, as it had the MindCandy watermark. :)
If only direction and especially pacing would've fitted the music even more.
