GIF was used as reference for 1950-2012 vehicles and later designs were added upon single reference photos. Coder picked by hand key points from each year and used them for line transformations - it was hell of a tedious job and it's not simple converted animation on C64 for sure.

What could have been a lot simpler was executed in a very pleasing and interesting form. Good music and nice presentation.
@ISL: my life is not THAT boring to do a spline animation based on some GIF i found on the internet, but yeah, maybe next time!
