WTF
can someone translate the lyrics?
can someone translate the lyrics?
I see people asking for a translation for the lyrics, so here you go. The song is “Sika ja Perkele” by the band CMX. I’ve tried, to the best of my ability, to preserve both the feeling and the meaning of the original lyrics. I’m not much of a poet, so bear with me :)
---
Pathos every day
The suffering and the swine
The swine and the Devil[1]
The Devil and sin
Compulsion is written
In the tissue[2] of the structure
In the tissue’s formation
In the wailing and anguish
We do it, we live
And none of us desire
Shun not the fire
Drown not in the water
Stomp the earth
And vanish in the air
Between the crags, the bones of the land are crying
Waiting for the moment
To journey into the winds of freedom
The dance of matter
Knows no rules
Unbound by compulsion
The swine and the Devil
---
[1] In contemporary use, “Perkele” usually means the Devil. As the song refers to sin, this is probably the intended meaning. However, considering that early CMX often draws from pagan mythologies, it could also be a reference to Perkwunos, the Indo-European god of thunder.
[2] “Kudos” usually means biological tissue. However, it could also mean woven fabric, although the word is rarely used for that meaning.
