I actually slept under the piano in the sleeping hall on the day before this was shown. After the componight, i didn't.
Also what keito said.

that gave me goosebumps over the stream ♥ would have a hard time to decide whether this should have been 1st, or not.
and, what keito said

Professional camerawork and nice detail on the realistic use of depth of field (though I see some typical artifacts from it around object edges). I'm slightly bothered by the lighting, or rather the lack thereof. A lot of the objects tend to look quite flat like they'd be from the DX7 era. Didn't really find it scary or disturbing, just interesting. :)

Pretty interesting but doesn't fully deliver. The design of the thing was somehow off balance, for example the metal hand didn't look strong enough to be able to actually pull the whole body behind it. The shading was also pretty damn retro and I think this production would've benefited from moody participating media fog and dramatic spotlights.

As a whole I liked the concept, but currently it's lacking some much needed polish.

My kind of prod. Lovely! More please! Reminds a little bit of this peril, just it's real-time and more edible. Good work.

Didn't enjoy this in the slightest and didn't find it creepy or disturbing either, quite the opposite actually. Weak piggie.

This! More ideas! More emotion! Less tunnel. It manages to convey several pretty good jolts just by good use of sync, a really refreshing soundtrack, and the abrupt weirdness of it all.

No, the rendering isn't the best thing since [insert good thing], but whatever. Much appreciated breath of fresh air. :)

Oh, was it by any chance inspired by Jan Swankmejer?

Oh, I would have loved to see this on the bigscreen! Great direction and soundscape, but I found the weak visual quality (lighting and some textures) a bit distracting from the otherwise strong atmosphere; it broke the immersion for me a bit.

Still, fantastic production!

oh that was salvation to watch on the party, after all those well technically done, but expectable and many times seen visuals - it reminded me works of Jan Švankmajer, the way of animating, cuts, atmo - more surrealistic demoscene prods please!

Disturbing for the sake of it, liked it. But is there a reason for the 2003 visuals that I'm missing? I think further graphical degradation would have actually sold it solidly.
added on the 2015-09-23 20:30:38 by Photon Photon
Wow, this is great, we need more unconventional experiments like this!
You could argue that the rendering is a little bit off, and requires the viewer to make an effort to get into the mood, but the UV shift is a great use of CG for such a scene.

The whole walking is maybe too experimental for me. But the scary factor worked quite well on the big screen. When rewatching on the monitor, lowpoly models make it less scary :)

It's amazing how many direction elements are there. Slomo destruction parts work great and to the point. The distortion wave after the face turns at you is almost unnoticeable but creates a movie-like atmosphere. The green texture animation scene is a remarkable finding that puts the classic matrix effect on a new level.

But my favorite part is the last space scene. When everybody was expecting some final attack or maybe a self-destruction, suddenly we are faced with the opposite side of the character. Now it's lonely and vulnerable, lost in space where nobody will ever find you. And the viewer is puzzled about the meaning of the picture on the wall during its last glance.

Is there a suitable translation of the hungarian verse in the nfo-file?
(Maybe it's a quote from some well-known poem which already has a good translation? Google didn't help me, neither the translator nor the search.)
added on the 2015-09-28 10:37:51 by Kylearan Kylearan
Kylearan:

"and the angel told him/her: "don't lay waste upon yourself!" but he/she didn't stop, for the angel had hurt him/her with its own hands"
(him/her is uncertain, since in hungarian there is no grammatical gender)

Not sure where it is from, sounds biblical, probably written by Gargaj himself :)
