I don't think it should've won from a design perspective. That said, this had some of the nicest routines I've ever seen on C64!!

Very nice, a pity about the lack of flow.
Well done, yet not my cup of tea.
I fail to see the awesomeness in the code. Please explain.
There's some brilliant code in there! Good work, guys!
According to the unnoficial results list this is not #1. The real #1 is "Fright not" by the same group.
This explains a lot, as the #2 and #3 demos are much better than this one.

Too oldschool for me, but DISCO part roxx!
A megademo in 2010, we <3 01d5ch00l! I don't see this as a worthful winner and it's quite dishomogeneous, but it looks to have a warn soul and some nice code'n'gfx.
Calexico: that list is not correct, this is the actual winner.
A bit too oldschool in mindset for my taste as well (preferred the FLT and Booze demos), but it sure was a nice blast at the party.

Wow, at first I thought is that 1st place but then I looked at the name and the results and said, wait the 1st place is a second demo by offence,. and this is still quite good in many aspects, and it's surprising a "press space" demo can still have so nice feeling. There are some nice effects and very clever parts there with really good graphics. Wow!
Some parts are a bit too simple but it still is a very nice demo, love the graphics and music. And I like that "let there be life" scroller quite a lot.
I personally preferred Fairlight's entry to this but there's lots of really nice stuff here as well as great music and it's a worthy winner for being so lovely and oldskool. Oh, and the DISCO part rules! :-)
Panoramic spirit!
i don't like the megademos. but this one is really rocks. some parts is very cool and some is very touching. well deserved 1st place.
Had its moments, surely.
Offence is back... what more to say?
i love the embossed logo on the twister in the first part.
pretty fine megademo all over :)
pretty fine megademo all over :)
a megademo you say? really neat gfx, great trip.
very oldschool style. clever use of the twister effect! also loved the isometric scrolly. last but not least, some great tunes (especially the one in the endpart..maybe my memory plays tricks on me but freqvibez...weren't you the one who sent me that ISA SIDcard several years ago? :))
A dozen parts, some good, some bad, some uplifting and silly, some depressing and weird. A huge mixed bag, with occasional moments of awesomeness.
not bad guys!
I love the marble madness scroller :)
Hold commodore key in the "mountain & green field" part. (with the petscii cows :) I saw a scroll go by too but can't figure out how to get it to appear again.
some massive parts in there, my fav probably being the DISCO one because it just looks cool =)
Not outstanding but some nice parts (Disco) and great GFX
Like
Thumbup for some nice effects! Thumbdown for no flow. But still a thumb up.
This demo is exceptional! For me it's a continuation of the Norwegian avant gardish demoscene which kinda ended around the early nineties. Those demos were outstanding, look at e.g. Panoramic Design's Mentallic to see what i mean. This one breathes that heritage like we haven't seen since then. That was rarely about tech records or macho code, but casting an atmosphere combined with or based on smart ideas.
If you're not used to 'press-space' demos, and got spoiled with the trackmos, i understand it's a bit harder to appreciate. But instead of having one big soup of effects and transitions, this meal is served in portions - each portion having its own peak and atmosphere. Impossible with the current standards of trackmos.
Plus there's so much love and ideas in this one...
Just to shed a light on the pov of more c64 sceners here, not just me. I guess it's harder for some to appreciate it without this background. Please considerate the historic part, one can not judge properly without having any background knowlegde. (which is a fact beyond the scene naturally; politics, art and .. what not).

Rich! Yes, it seems to have been put together in a hurry and yes, it is somewhat unbalanced but it had me go "Ah!" and "Oh!" quite a few times. I like it.
- great "space" odyssey -
Since this is a multi-part demo, I'll be giving +1 for every part I liked, and -1 for every part I didn't.
+1 "Mindbender". Nice tune, LN graphic. awesome 3D letters
+1 scroll message. Go, take this wretched form to new heights!
+1 for the Joystick scene. Tho I don't really like the Competition Pro, favouring the Quickshot Python, or the Konix Speedking, the Artwork was flawless. Fantastic Four Four-ever! ;)
+1 for the text weaves. Short and to the point, the best kind of scrolltext.
-1 for the words in the geek's skull. Er, what's going on?
-1 for the downbeat head. Why, guys?
+1 for the Disco sequence. Pure Genius!
+1 for the Eye in the triangle sequence. Loved the bouncing balls.
+1 for the Cityscape. Cheer up fella! There is always a better world for the taking!
+1 for the 3D isometric scroller. Hidden part much?
+1 for the green field. Moo!
+1 for the art in the following scene.
+2 for the ending. Don't forget to turn off your sets tonight.
So, Final Score: 10 points. Thumbs up, Soldier! :)

Fantastic! I loved this to bits, and the music.. and the graphics... just.. wow. Lost for words. Big up to Pal and the gang.
Great comment by Sander.
Seeing this demo reminded me about something Twoflower said or wrote about Kjell Nordbo being one of the last to make demos in the Norwegian style. This demo felt very Norwegian to me, as it is filled with perfectly pixelled graphics and well crafted parts, where an amazing and often a bit creepy or trippy mood is set.
There has been a lot of discussion about the results in the demo compo at x, but just the part with the triangles and bouncing balls makes this a worthy winner, and then there is still the rest of the demo.

Very nice routines and pictures but lack of any linking disappoints in 2010.
Lovely
Nitro : download the Panoramic Design demos and watch those.
Great demo with lots of stuff to look at and to listen to. I just love those little vignettes during loading...
Well done!
<3 the scroller with light and life
Ha ha, this is the worst and most obsolete shit I have seen for 2 years or so.
I can't believe it came first.

If you don't like scrollers leave party: Smile
Let there be light: Jaw on floor
Let there be life: Head explode.
Weaving scroller, and the bouncing ball part was impressive also.

nice, but liked fairlight better
.
Strange mood generated by extreme oldschoolness (space plus scrollers plus zero-effects loader). But lots of good and suiteable tunes and some really good effects: Slideshow blending, Disco Ball, Triangle Eye with Balls, Iso Scroller.

They're all 65xx opcodes, and slowly they all turn into NOP (No OPeration). That's what's going on. How you interpert that is up to you (:
Overal a pretty nice demo, although I don't think it deserved first place. Still some fucking killer stuff in here (:
Also, what Sander said.
Forgot my thumb.
Maybe unequal, but some parts are... wow! o_O
thumb for the iso scroller alone!
Let there be Offence!
A bit hit and miss. A good demo, but not the first place for me.
I fail to see what's so impressive about this one, simple effects, decent graphics, medicore music
Comeback of the century on the commodore 64 !
h
Would thumb for the diagonal scroller alone, but there's quite a lot of nice thing in the whole :)
very nice demo!
One of my favorite demos of this year.
You did it! Awesome work! Congratulations! Some parts are really really good. Overall excellent graphics, and so many wonderful melodic tunes. (Are the .sid files available somwhere?)
Nice gfx and ideas... Well done! :)

I'm sure they'll be in the next HVSC release.
Offence are back !
and doing more than just well !
i loved your Amiga-Stuff in the early 90s already :D
i am still unconscious of who should have won, taking out the 4thPlace==tool(cubase64) it would have been hard to decide for me under the first 4 !
good to have you back ! moar awesomeness plz !
PS: next time do some trackmo plz, this time i see why you had to go for multiparts, the effects lead to it...but plz try to have it more fastpaced next time, tnx ! :)

Non-cammed video please?
great code, graphics and music, but I guess I'm one of those newschool kiddies who are too lazy to press space without being annoyed
Worthy winner. Could use some better transitions perhaps (check out "Sonic" by Triumwyrat for an example of a megademo with nice transitions), but the mood is excellent, the ideas are fresh, the graphics are astonishing and the music's good.
*like*
Good effects, no transition. Could have been so much more if the parts would have been connected... Music is so-so.
but what wood said

This demo is a work of art.
It was fun to attend with the rest of the Norwegians at x2010.

No, I don't. Probably from before my time ;_)
Let there be light part was awesome. Mostly the demo is pure diamond, but didn't quite get the x-ray guy. Definitely a thumb up!
The music.. the muuuuuuuusic!
music pwnz
graphics pwnz
thumbsup !

Ok, some scroll texts are rather weird, but the gfx rock and it's a nice 20 minutes spent to watch. Music not my cup of tea mostly. Overall: Rulez.
hahaha. great stuff.
Fuck, only C64 demos can entertain me for 15 mins.....stunning work....
..like the disco-guy, though! :-)
Awesome pumping iso scroller! Also liked the pyramid part. And the music in the competition pro part was particularly ace. :) I wish I didn't have to press space though :P
fuckin' great!
Lots of parts that I don't like all that much and lots of stuff that goes over my head and that's exactly what makes it awesome.
a right demo!!!!!!! kick'in & superb!

Nice and refreshing.
Atmospheric and somewhat experimental which I really like.
Really great artwork, design and sense of humor. Good work.
