I don't know what this was but it was one hell of a trip

only got the track playing, no visuals
Superb music by Sundial. I thought Sundial consisted of more than one member though.
The demo seems to require a bit more juice than my machine can provide unfortunately :/

Nice production, out of the usual demoscene stuff!
Liked the analogue-ish visuals, found the soundtrack too cheesy though.
Zden is back \o/
How crazy is that: A i7 melting 2d demo in 2010. :)

me eyes!
WHOA. That was ... amazing :O
Oh my GOD. OOOOOH my GOD! This is definitely one the best demos that I have EVER seen! I was very pleasantly surprised to see Satori release a demo again after such a long while. And I have to say, it was definitely worth the wait. Amazing music, amazing visuals, true artistic masterpiece. You guys rule. Please do more of this. =)
rulez
satori rule!
has some great moments
Aesthetical atmospheric art at it's finest
awesome soundtrack , animation sukcs :)
I simply loved this ambient trip. Great soundtrack, combined with awesome software rendering. Thanks for this nice experience.
What the fudge
great
I just have no words to express my feelings cause of Satori's comeback. And with such a comeback!
Very beautiful. And just awesome.
Very beautiful. And just awesome.
mental :D really I don't know how you did all this!
Better than I expected, nice soundtrack, but just too cluttered and messy.
I only get sound here. The window just goes away. :|
wow! cool! LOVE <3
oh my god fuck this is great
Black screen. Detects my 2nd display (which is lower res than my primary) and asks if I want to watch on 2nd display. If I say "no" I get black on display 1 and 1/3rd black on display 2. If I say "yes" I get black display 2 with a vertical line on the right.
Any way to activate windowed mode?
Any way to activate windowed mode?
unbelievable! never thought such cool demo's could appear again today!
Good stuff
Amazing! Moral winner and definitely the best in the compo.
Any chance for 1080p video? Please :)

The atmosphere is so intense, it was mesmerizing the entire party. Great to see something fresh from you guys!
something special
beatiful piece, thank you very much!
This is a demo I'll watch multiple times!
.
Ok, now it runs here.
Awesome experience. Typical Satori quality.

Fuck, that was incredible. Satori <3
I am not usually a fun of the satori noise/dirty style but that was better than I expected. And it's the only(?) demo in the compo in pure software rendering :)
so eerie atmosphere and abstract visually. haven't seen something fresh like this for quite a while.
amazing in general, (not 100% consistently great visually) -- and wtf, these type of fx in software (and it looked to be running in quite a hi-res too.. havent tested it at home yet)
great
Satori, we love you!
very good
Well done!
i really dig the music and could easily listen to that all day.
the visuals are not really my cup of tea though.
not that they are bad technically, but i just find them a bit boring after a few seconds.

wow.
satori<3
Really loved the abstract rendering - different, and more importantly, beautiful result!
this demo is from another universe
Awesomeness! This is one of the best BP2100 demos!
Sensory overload to the max. Definitely the best noise/clutter/whatever demo I've seen so far and definitely on of the best demos in the compo
Can't tell any bad word about it. If I will ever release any new prod, then maybe I will, but for now I should STFU and stand in awe you managed it. :) Keep kicking me like this, it's pain - reminding me what I have become to be, but I deserve it and you are doing it good. :D
my experimental heroes of satori are back <3
this rules for sure, nice to see satori stuff in HD, impresses even more..

zden: yeah, HD video of both party and final releases please :) If it's much different, it'll be like having 2 demos instead of just one.
slick
the visuals are a bit noisy, but the music introduces an oddly compelling feeling to them. good work.
thumb up for the music
grrrr8
Mmmm.. Satori is back. And with software rendering.
i like when it's not accelerated
also, the funny thing is, it perfectly works under wine (1.1.40) under linux (2.6.33) on a x86_64 cpu (without even sse2) installed into a 4 years old laptop. but it doesn't show anything on a somehow modern desktop with windows 7 on x86_64.
great stuff!
Wow, I really dig this grandchild of Cthugha. Also it reminds me of Caero. Very nice presentation in ambient style.
not easy to comment this.
Personally find this points :
[+] music
[+] soft. rendering?
[+] some synch
[-] seems like tons of coder error-try tests put alltogether
[-] VJ alike ,..well this is not always a bad point.

My personal winner
yes, please give us the 720p version, of course everyone (including me) will wait and get the 1.0 when it's out, but meanwhile, my poor single core turion has absolutelly no chance of running this on more than 2fps :( however the details i saw in those few frames are inexistant in any video version out there, so please, give us a chance to enjoy it, and thank you.

I don't really get the point of pure software rendering... using a few smart shaders could do the same thing and it would look better, and, more importantly, run faster.
Still, the design is great, and fits to the music. This was definitely one of my favorite demos of breakpoint, and I wish there were more of these dreamy 2D-effect demos.

Not my cup of tea.
has to be a transmission from outer space.
thx for this one, the best so far!

zden: way to go. it was a high to watch the demo on the live bp-stream especially when i saw it was software rendered. it was a really awesome ride. its good to know im not alone when it comes to making software rendered demos (even my quality is so much lower). i like the high-voltage power picture(s) (it made the experience a little more interesting). i never really made the change to gpu's, maybe its because i didnt want to let go of it, i dont know the reason why. im kind of grown up with oldschool and table-effects and the change to hardware is much more difficult to make. better gpu-cards are also hitting the market every year (or sooner) and too keep up with the latest technology is painfull for me.
software rendering is back!
software rendering is back!
strange thing, but some really nice scenes and great soundtrack!
what the hell was this? I loved it but I can't begin to describe it
Did I just do acid?!?
Melts my face!
looked like there was alot going on, but never got anywhere, and was too incoherent and abstract for me.
The music is very, very nice. The rest was okay.
rydi: Dude.. just... don't.
rydi: Dude.. just... don't.
Loved it.
Zden: My first thought at the compo when i saw one of the parts was "damn shame he's coded it in SW again.. it would've killed if it ran smooth".
I used to be pretty vary of shaders but nowadays even the lousiest netbooks from last year will have an intel gma 950 that has PS 2.0. I think my laptop (that an ultraportable) from 2004 had PS 1.1.. now i'm pretty sure that some of your effects won't run well on those shaders but you could prolly do some layer processing with them easily. The last engine i completed more or less only uses ps 1.1 , if i keep that code and make additions it'll prolly be able to fallback to that and default to higher Q for better computers.
Great production, just a shame it didn't really have a chance at the compo.

ambientttttttttttttttttttttttt
would be so awesome it it had full framerate
gloom: dude.. by the last sentence I was trying to be ironic. :p
.
We want more!
sorry but really too boring, pressed esc...
Has a few really nice effects and the music is great.
boring eye-cancer chaos. this really ranked 6th? The scene really must be dead and there is no tomorrow.
zden: multithreading shouldn't be too hard.. I guess you pretty much just run through a list of filters in order? If so, many filters you can just split into x pieces, and do 1 piece per thread. Where there's some sampling of adjacent pixels you must split into overlapping tiles, with the overlap being the amount you sample away from the current pixel.
But seriously, you could do this demo with shaders, it would be very little extra work, and it would run smooth at higher res. You don't need any expensive GPU to run this, a cheap/few years old one would be enough :) Porting what you've done to glsl might not be so much work as you think too.

Too ugly and chaotic - Had to check the video, because I thought my gfxcard is not playing it right. Some nice parts + ok sound saves it from thumb down.
tak sa mi to paci, konecne nieco zo slovenskej strany ;)
Original satori.
Yeah! You guys are alive after all. Love you dudes <3
Lucy in Scene with Demos
really intense
zden: I have a 0% fear method for you to start writing your stuff on GPU. I learned this way, and did some GLSL shaders before even learning any serious coding.
You have a mac, so install the SDK if you haven't already (it's on the osx disk, or download it from developer.apple.com) and load up quartz composer from in there (search with spotlight to find it). It's like a demo tool, similar to werkzeug, pretty powerful and it runs on the GPU. I made this and this using QC a lot.
Play a little so you get how it works (connect a 'video input' or 'image importer' (your source, so you have some pixels to play with - video = video camera = more fun!) to a 'billboard' or 'sprite' (your output) and try some of the built-in filters between). (I recommend this anyway even if you don't want to touch GPU stuff, you'll get ideas for your own tools :)
Then try the 'Core Image Filter' patch - it lets you write your own filters, and they run on the GPU. It's quite easy, 2d only, but very powerful. And it's based on GLSL - if you like core image, you'll find it pretty easy to move to glsl. There's a GLSL patch where you can write your own vertex/pixel shader and try it out with no additional code. Then you'll just need to integrate CI or glsl into your engine :) If you want help with QC, ask on kineme.net.

But the whole package is wonderful. Love it :)

Was great to see Satori back too!
Beautiful. Even a low quality Youtube capture can't fail to impress.
Thumbs up, Soldier!

Wow. Awesome. The music is really really good too, and it really suits the visuals. Will definitely watch this several times.
It did make my poor core2 E6550 beg for mercy, but I got a watchable framerate throughout the demo. The part with some sort of flowers or something ran really slowly though. :)

This one was amongst my favorites in the compo. Loved it to its bits.
nice VJ stuff
second thumb for Raiden&Sundial
wonderful, thx!
now i get visual output aswell :)
im asking me why you dont use disturbance efx at all.
some crews used them too much. here in your demo i was somewhow waiting for it.
anyways! very good demo again!

i meant that pixel line from left to right distortion - well doses ofcoz. (dont know what its called)
just slightly that in some scenes. :)

Synesthetic delights.
wow, rocks.
checking the video versions, sluggish on this NVidia 9600mGT... :\

final is even better, one of those demos where a video will never do it justice due to the amount of detail and subtle shades of color
tnx for the final
sorry i like the original better when the spinning plants fade in :[
I took a long time to process this demo, but now, i see the "light" :)
quite surreal experience, normally i like more straitforward going demos - But well, if the music is awesome all works together like a perfect clock, and here all worked together so well, liked the effect color layers - Quote hypnotical.. In combination with a good wine.. Awesome :)
More of this please!
More of this please!
Pure psychedelic love!
Great one!
Some parts are interesting, some boring and noisy.
zden: Any tricks on getting this to work with kkapture? I would really like to make a 60fps capture.
Emailed zden! Thanks!
i like it but i think its somehow sad that it burns all out of my (3.2ghz) CPU and is still stuttering at some scenes when it could use the GPU as well.
it must be possible to hardware accelerate the code you wrote somehow.
anyway. this rox.

92 megabytes of abstract eyefuck. Oh no :(
DAMMIT your musician is unfairly good. Jesus.
sympatico
ZDEN <3
Terribly underrated. One of the best ambient demos there are, and those anemones oh my god!
Hypnagogic.
After seeing quite a share of in the woods with filters wilds today, this is a welcome comeback of the satori I like.
For some reason I don't remember seeing it on the bigscreen at all anymore, though must have been a good party then ^^
I love the sunday mood satori <3

Very nice.
Very rulez!
visuals are ace too
yes
so coooooooool
Had downloaded the v0.77 which didnt work, was black screen but I heard music / sound.
Went to this website and downloaded the patch.
Retried which gave me the same result.
Than I saw a link, on this page, for the final version, which I downloaded.
Retried, worked, yet just after the purple "plants", which is at 4:46 in the youtube video, it gives me a RAM issue.
I have 16GB of RAM installed, should be enough, right?

I just re-ran it, but I first disabled antivirus and... no issues!!
Lovely music and demo!!
Lovely music and demo!!
verry trippah
To run it; double click on the .exe file
A window will popup, telling you to "select video mode"
Than, you left mouse click the window and press 0 on your keyboard (par example)
Than another window pops up, calculating MEM and such
And there is Vokawardoai.
(That is how I got it to work on my win10 64bit laptop.)
