+it's a new demo from a returning talent

-it's just a single effect and it doesn't thrill me.

+It's on Amiga

-starting off easy is one thing...

Meh. Piggy!

That's a surprise and I'm glad to see a new demo by Ephidrena but this is, although OK, quite poor for a thumb up.

This is actually somewhat interesting. The filter looks nice and the overall look'n'feel is so different from what we usually see on the Amiga. However, I need more sequences to thumb it up.

-Music
-Full screen 3-color animation of half face (eye staring intensively at the screen and blinking)
-Palette fade in/out, changing color scheme each time
-loaderror fanboi

Art wannabe. (Not) one effect. Music is nonexistant. As a demo this doesn't work.
And don't flame me with the "this is art, you don't understand it" crap. Thanks.

I'm just as much into art as demos, but this is neither...
Quite boring I might say. We want DEMOOOOOlish!

when i last checked i had the impression that we have long passed the stage of calling things art whenever people disagree of the matter being nice. some at pouet certainly prove me wrong. :) cracks me up every time!

thumb up for the excellent soundtrack alone. the rest seems allright for being a party-prod. :)

sorry, definitely not my cup of demo

I had just finished a quadtree compression routine, suggested by Blueberry for efficient 2-colour vid compression, and wanted to have something for the compo. I rushed to Nosfe to get some noise music for a dramatic effect, taped it all together in 2 hours and released.

Then I spent three weeks adding colour (stolen from Obama's Change poster so this is very explosive stuff now. Maybe the guy in the demo is watching television? I thought about calling it :"the united states of amiga" at this point ;) ), a second soundtrack and then the blink fade after a suggestion by Kusma who thought it would be cool if you could be inside the character's head. The blink is made from counting the number of white pixels in Spookysys' eyes :). Very scientific stuff. Most painful experience: recolouring the eyes as white from 172 frames of 2-colour anim in brilliance. It took 1-2 hours so it wasn't very painful though :) . Nice to do something not supposed to be insanely clever or awesome. Hope to use much more video in the future, primarily as a design element embedded in other stuff. People are still scared of using video because it was considered lame in the early Amiga 90s, but it is a pretty cool design element don't you think? Everybody should use it really, especially now as it has become easier to record your own stuff. There are still size limits and recording limits to get around so using video leads to some demo coding as well to be able to pack it all in in a way which looks good.

I'm 100% with loady on this one! Amiga demos have evolved over the last 20 years and I like the way they're going - more art, less fart!

Super glad to see Eph finally recovering from the massive demo breakdown caused by Lux :)

Video for the sake of video (meaning full screen with nothing else going on) is usually rather boring but i like the idea of video as a design addition so it's going to be interesting to see how this evolves in future demos.

As a test, it's actually nice and looks good.

As a potential referee, I would say: accepted provided the authors apply major revisions.

Perhaps it's not a full-scale demo, but I like it nevertheless. The concept (and the singularity of it) is eye captivating (eh, pun intended).
