Hi men! This prod was very cool because fluid while very dynamics with a great tune, that's okay! Above all, it has something different ... not the usual metal futurist ambiance, but dark flower or something like that. I can't explain very well but you guys of Adinpsz, you have a point and are probably opening some new route.

All the thumbs up and the comments above built big expectations in me... but no.
This is a shameless collection of clicheé items and effects which were already old in 1998, painted in dutch colorscheme and mixed up with bad psytrance.
I thought (and hoped) that asian chicks in the loading screen, toruses and kaleidos where something we left in the previous century for good.

I'm with Dixan on this one! Completely horrible, did not enjoy this one in the slightest. Uninteresting effects that don't look good accompanied by an incredibly boring tune that annoys the shit out of me. No thanks!

This is the perfect mix between oldskool and newskool. There's like a twilight-zone. Warmth meet the cold, goa, chill, colors, specular spaces between the psydelious wavetranscending brain-salad and the vivid 4th dimentionally dream state of mind! Lovely music but the pace could have been more energized! Include "ADHD.LIB" in your next production and buttons will pop all over the place :D

Wow! Just wow!
This demo has a lot of rule concepts.
- atmospheric intro with 2d background
- a lot of psychedelic warps presented with trance music and great sync
- at least two moments where you think the demo is going to end right here and you don't want it to end and then you scream "Yeah!!! It has more!"
- most psychedelic and longest crosszoomer ever
- I have wet my pants now..

superb introduction with beautiful gfx! the rest looks really fine, but it's just one of those typical goa trance demos which we've seen so often.
rulez added on the 2009-10-04 20:40:21 by Bobic Bobic
The demo is technically not impressive in the least. Effects are technically boring and lame.

However, the art direction / design is beyond amazing... and I can't explain why, but the zoomer at the end made me tear up.

Admittedly, I'm a huge goa/psytrance fan... so I HIGHLY enjoyed the tune too.

Your mileage may vary. I wish I could give this one a triple-thumb-up. It may well be my favorite demo of all time.

Hi,

#ponce here. We are just coming from MAIN which was an amazing party, kudos to organizers !

About the demo. It's written in D again. The soundtrack was ready two months ago, but everything else we had was the broken az01 engine. I had the chance to work exclusively on this demo since. It was two months of a crude coding life.

As for the effects, they are admittedly simple and slow-paced. But wait, there is some reason to it :
- the Milkdrop-like rendering (@SounsSquare : yes like the Winamp plugin) is FPS-dependent. So you really don't want your framerate to be too slow anywhere with a decent graphic card, 'cause it would screw up the demo. Also it just happens that i have a shitty card.
- the goal was to create an entrancing demo (like in trance state) with even less things going on. But we failed, there is still too much things happening in the visuals to be actually entrancing.

The music. It is more likely to be enjoyed by goa trance fans. It sounds very oldschool, but that's how i like it.

@HeatSurge : glad it made you tears up :)

I did not really like the start, was a bit slow and boring, then it build up progressively in a very special way despite the semi non related stuff appearing in random order and the abuse in the number of kaleidokope effects. Absolutely thing the fonts you choose are horrible, but all in all a very cool demo :)
rulez added on the 2009-10-05 00:20:08 by Dbug Dbug
This demo surely wasn't built with originality in mind yet it comes with some quality parts in it. The approach itself was pretty consistent but I didn't feel those last crucial efforts to make it one insanely trippy experience. On the other side an entracing demo probably isn't all about trippyness anyways. I probably would have gradually upped the ante by inserting flashy color rotations and wobbly post processing or something but this is not really my domain anyways :)
Concluding: no groundbreaking stuff going on in here but a pretty solid show and hopefully more adinpsz releases coming soon.
added on the 2009-10-05 00:30:02 by Paralax Paralax
Wow, rarely you see a pc demo that is so driven by effects. I thought during this like three times that like now it's gonna end but then it just went on and on, and that rarely is an upper but thankfully in this case I think it was. I like the effects, the 2d graphics, and the transitions work well. The music I didn't care that much of, it was just medicore psytrance. Other thing is that the overall quality is not that impressive, I mean that it might need just some more polishing here and there, but still, a great demo!

There were some parts where it trailed off or looked a bit tacky, but that aside I really liked it. It really felt like it was taking me on a ride and the zoomer that just kept going almost put me into a blissful trance.

I can't say it was the most technically impressive demo I've seen, but it was one of the most enjoyable I've seen for a while.

For me, the music was the main standout. It worked so well with the demo and made it even more trance inducing.
rulez added on the 2009-10-05 00:55:44 by Wade Wade
I think I really liked it. The last minute or so seemed a bit unnecessary, despite the preceding minutes' having contained some lovely stuff, but whatever.

Nice work!!
rulez added on the 2009-10-05 01:53:53 by syphus syphus
bravo les gars! some very very nice stuff in there.
however you could have skipped directly to the trancy part and left all the figurative stuff (pseudo talking chick included) aside, it didn't work as well.
@#ponce: I don't think there is too much stuff hapening at once per se, maybe what is missing is subtility, better balancing between elements.

to sum up, nice trancy demo but the figurative parts destroyed the feeling sometimes. infinite zoomer worked very well tho.

I started off thinking..."is this all it is? a picture with basic effects" but in the end it was enough, mainly thanks to the killer tune. At what i assume was the end i got an error:

this really must have been a lot of work (especially from a pretty new group)! it goes on forever and it seems really polished as well. impressive work to polish it all well over such a long demo, with good transitions all the way and a pretty good flow.
but ... the content was so dated, when it finally ended i half expected to go back to a dos prompt. by the time the torii showed up it was really taking the piss. :)
still, it promises much for the future.

btw, props for what looks like a zoomer made entirely from the results of a google image search.

This demo is very easy to hate because of all the outdated stuff. (what dixan said.)

But at the same time it has an interesting flow and it has some really trippy scenes. The zoom was really entertaining with the completely random images.

I get a classic goa demo vibe from this. Time travelling 10 years back or so, with the illusion being shattered few times with a more modern look. Don't know how much of this is intentional, but like this the demo falls a bit short - perhaps going all the way into the 90's would do the trick?

Verrrry nice design and a smorgasbord of effects for ... jesus, all your demos are from 2009.
This fulfills my recommended daily allowance of feedback effects and zooming. For your next one, use a series of 3d objects scaled by powers of ten, it's way more fun and avoids that little 'tic' when your texture coordinates hand off.

Oh, and Barzoule is mistaken about the vocals: they're perfect for the psy/goa vibe : D

added on the 2009-10-27 10:15:49 by psonice psonice
If someone want to make a proper capped version, one can build from the source a special "capped" version which turn off texture compression and sync on music (you could aswell use the -nomusic switch).
I can also provide a 256 kbps mp3 version of the soundtrack
For now I can have HQ rushes, but not with a sufficient framerate.

Now that I watched it again, i was able to see with a new eye what I was unable to see in the demo rush.

While the demo is cool in its own way, it lacks a certain amount of drive and energy in someplaces to make it more enjoyable and total.

The lack of post-processing is particularly cruel and makes every visual defect jump to the eye in a rough way.

Also, the soundtrack which is fine alone feels way more repetitive with the graphics (because we don't care about the music while watching ?).

also theres a lot of video-links aswell, so atleast you could have voted on some vid...
...and if you´re so l33t to downthumb sth just because you think the coder suxx, why dont you download the source and fix it yourself ? :P

Wow, I'm really impressed by what you'd done in so little time.

That one is a really good trance trip, very demo-ish.
A few things didn't turn me on though: first, the demo won't work on my WinXP + Radeon X700 (crash at launch, no error in log), and the video on Demoscene.tv looks like a bad screener. Second, the cheap looking shockwaves, the ugly pink font (but maybe it was intended?) and the cheap greetings.

The rest is really well polished. I especially like the zoom out series (very good mise en abime).

I'm looking forward to seeing your next prod.

Really nice demo - especially the music and of course the endless zoomer <3

Made a YT Capture on my HD Demo Channel:

Crazy stuff but very well done! Deserves the first place at Main.

Whoa, missing thumb.
Totally loved the infinite zoomer. The music could be even more psychedelic, though. ;)

Technology meets psychedelia in fireworks of effects. Keeps up a high level of creativity all the way through.

Love the infinite kaleidoscope effects and the awesome zoom in the second half. Music is excellent!

great trip although some of the stuff felt (slightly) unfitting.
+ loving the massive look of the effects.

I like how the effects keep permutating and stay fresh. Infinite zoomer was my favourite part.

I love the atmosphere, the sync, some transitions and a lot of the design! Really entertaining, low-tech or not. Only some parts (the greetings especially) looked out of place.

Wow, how did I miss this one? Guess you gotta like techno/trance to enjoy it, but if you do the pacing is great, and it has artwork to go with it. Certainly could've made MindCandy 3.

This is funny because when we made Extatique I had watched perhaps 20 demos grand total, particularly the MindCandy 1 DVD, so I thought it was futuristic :) This certainly show in that the demo is a succession of effects.

I still like to watch it from time to time, it never seems quite the same. At a deep level it was maybe intended as some form of medecine, but was largely written as it came and with little planning, a bit like automatic writing.
