Nice fractal plants, judging by the screenshot.

The diffused limited aggregation effect is really simple to do, you can see it in java here (sourcecode not far).

The only interest in this botsector is the lz77 packer... Binary was 800 bytes long! ;)

Thanks lotek for support!

Ok I tried to do the same, but the algorithm took about two hours to complete on an ST for about 3000 particles. So.. how did you do it???? I was looking at it and I couldn't believe it, knowing that you can't possibly precalc this in 512b...

Hah those plant things were an example program that shipped with Blitz Basic ;)

@ChrisTOS: first you set a maxy where your particles will start falling (here, one line above the outline logo at the start). Then you choose randomly x in [0;319], y=maxy and you make the particle fall randomly, ie you chose between (x-1;y-1), (x;y-1) and (x+1;y-1) until you meet an already set particle or the bottom of the screen. In such case you print the particle at the previous position. Also actualise maxy if need be.

@baah, ok I think I understand what you did now. Still I am quite impressed at the speed. Well done!

It's Baah from Arms Tech, one of my favourite Acorn coders, on the ST!! Please make more stuff on the Atari mate :)

Nice little thingy

Cool.

I should give it a try 'coz on top of my head I don't see what would take 800 bytes with this algo.

Kudos for an original display on Atari and the effort gone into the packer.

Btw, I'm really sorry I couldn't contribute to Outline this year.

@p01: look at the code, all loops are unrolled, routines are repeated (no jumps)so it's faster... And not bigger since the lz77 packer acts like a code generator.
