Wow! It's been a long time since I've last seen a good GBA demo and this one has a smooth 3d engine and several good scenes.

Thanks. Is there any interest in an article about the development of this + the limitations and capabilities of the GBA, I might write one.

On emulation: Sync is totally off in no$gba, Visualboy Advance does not display the ending screen (neither does real hardware) due to some bug.

Fun info:
- Nothing is precalced (but some textures are a little baked).
- To sync, we built a special version of Visualboy Advance which communicates with Sync Tracker. We can use it to change any sync parameter in the demo in realtime, and to skip / pause the demo on any row.
Good one.

Fails to work on a supercard here too... Please do a lamer version for us supercard users :) Try to set higher waitstates maybe...

Enjoyable prod. and he didn't even require Nintendo sponsorship and an "official GBA devkit" to produce it. Seems you know what "scene spirite" means after all, Graga :P

Amitari: :)
Rarefluid: Ah, of course, super card. I'll be lazy and ask kusma for the reg settings for a lamer version. The framerate is probably gonna drop - do you want it with vsync or without?
Graga: I don't really know which of the system control registers to set, but comparing the five-finger-discount binaries it seems like that setting the "Wait State 0 First Access" to 3 instead of 2 should be enough. That makes the last nibble A instead of 6. Hope that helps. I'll volunteer as a beta tester if you need one ;)
added on the 2008-03-27 20:00:31 by raer raer
Nope. White screen at the start now. Tried it with a GBA SP, Supercard SD and the latest firmware (v1.85)
added on the 2008-03-27 20:27:00 by raer raer
Works. Seems like it would be better with vsync though. Some tear-lines are visible in the hexagon-scenes.
Other than that: Nice work! Already looking forward to your next one...
GBAAAAA rulez! ;)
rulez added on the 2008-03-27 21:38:19 by raer raer
oh, and what did you do to make it work?
added on the 2008-03-27 21:39:48 by raer raer
This:
Code: *(u32*)0x4000800 &= 0xF0FFFFFF; *(u32*)0x4000800 |= 0x0E000000; REG_WSCNT = 0x46d6;

->
Code: // *(u32*)0x4000800 &= 0xF0FFFFFF; // *(u32*)0x4000800 |= 0x0E000000; // REG_WSCNT = 0x46d6;

:P.

BTW, the hall and the hex scene are the only scenes where I don't have vsync enabled (don't know why it isn't on hex..). Did you experience it elsewhere?
;) ok...
It was only pretty obvious in the hex scene. the rest was ok imo.
Btw: in 5FD (lamer version) the registers are:
0x04000204 --> 0x46D6
0x04000800 --> 0x00001454
added on the 2008-03-27 21:56:21 by raer raer
Weird, must be something about how I'm setting 4000800 then. I'll ask Kusma some time. Thanks for looking into it!
Oh, and the docs say for 0x04000800:
Bit 24-27 Wait Control WRAM 256K (0-14 = 15..1 Waitstates, 15=Lockup)
E == 15 in this case...

I fixed it, I'm looking into wether I can improve sync compatibility across all emulators right now.

Liranuna: See the slowlamer version's nfo. Sorry for not popping you in the party version.
The slowerlamer version working great on my supercard. A nice show overall =)

you won't manage, just make a nocash version with time - 15 allright :)

Er...if the ending screen is a picture of 3 milkmen then VBA plays it fine on my machine. I am running 1.72 though. I wonder if this would work on my psp GBA emu?

Tries it out - well, some of it does. Then it just glitches.

Could someone try these?
http://www.student.dtu.dk/~s072421/unibrau_fixed_proper.rar
http://www.student.dtu.dk/~s072421/unibrau_fixed_lamer.rar

I fixed the end picture so that it always shows. The reason why it didn't 50% of the time is embarassing.
Both not working for me. Popping sound, then black screen for the lamer version.

p0ke, i found a zip on my hard drive. it's been a long time so I'm not sure if it's the right one, but could you see if http://e.teeselink.nl/milkmen_unibrau_(final).zip contains a version that works? please let me know if the sync is right as well (you can tell that it's right when stuff shakes when the music does boom)

Hi skrebbel,

Sorry for my late reply, and thanks a lot for the link.
It appears that I have the end of the demo on no$ with no$ version.
Unfortunately, the flash cart one still doesn't work. I have a "white screen" once the demo is loaded and no sound.
I tryed the lamer one and no$ on my kart but no success with these as well.

Hi skrebbel,

I finally find a way to watch it with the ezflash IV cart.
For those who are curious, just use select key instead of "a" and write it on the nor flash (maybe you have to erase it first, don't be shy and say yes). It should work (if you have the latest version!).
