keops super mega porn star!

thumb up for the "Space Harrier" dragon !
Its nice, but when I got back in time it was no brainblaster for me cos I saw some newer Demos before.
Equinox!
Vodka Connecting People. :)
Vodka Connecting People. :)
Rules !
Rocks! The hidden screen was much too easy to find, in fact, it was the first screen I saw in the demo. ;)
My fav Atari ST demo I saw for the first time at the ST of my school. It still was technically far behind the Amiga Demos of that time... (Forgive me: ...like the machine behind it)
Midfit: maybe because Atari ST only had a 68000 whereas Amiga had a blitter, a copper and Paula besides the 68000? :)
You have to keep that in mind to appreciate the code in this demo ;)

Nice!
no brainblaster, but some good screens
la classe !
:D cute!!

Another forgotten thumb..
:)
Not as good as Equinox's later prods, but then, watched it so many times...
missing forgotten thumb
blame the gfxman
blame the gfxman
Dear nick-brother EviL, did you thumb down this nice demo because the similarity of the logos? If so, you really need a new pair of glasses man..
I can't see anything identical between the two at all, not even remote. There's some basic idea similarities, but definitly nothing to "blame the gfxman" for.

Evil / DHS: yep, it was totally drawn from scratch from what I remember, as we always did when doing amiga conversions/effects.
The logo is indeed very inspired from the Scoopex one, as was the "trend" back in the days. We used to watch a lot of amiga demos back in the days and the inspiration here is obvious.
But well, the guy will probably go and thumb down all the demos using logos made out of knight hawks or Tristar fonts. But I somehow doubt it since he rather has fun picking on Equinox for quite some time now ;)
Anyway, it's quite funny coming from a guy who blatantly ripped Ryg's code though :) http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=8953

hey evil :)
if it was just the only one in the demo ok... but nop "similarities" are also used on other logos (i.e.: the wizzcat part) in this demo, so yes blame the gfxman for zero originality and for other stuff :D and more...
otherwise the overscan alone would get the thumb up yeap
(btw I don't wear glasses and don't need them :])
yes yes keops, go back to the ryg thing there: http://www.pouet.net/topic.php?which=3627&page=64 and use an english->french translator this time
damn, where was my head when I though I could rip the so unknown german group farbrausch group and get away with it
but hey keep repeating, people will trust you
so you really want to talk about ripped code ?
you better check that french ST Magazine article where "SOME" equinox coder admits that he reverse amiga code to make parts in equinox demos
I specially like the "hey look! we don't have blitter which means I rip but I know what I am doing" part
peace :D

I fail to understand what you mean with this. Can you elaborate a bit? :)
EviL: I don't remember this article but the only Equinox buy who wrote in ST Mag was Checksum / Equinox who indeed read the code of an Amiga soundtracker replay routine to try and write one on Atari.
He later wrote an article, still in ST Mag, to explain people how to make an amigalike tracker on Atari, without Paula.
It's not different from what people did when they got their hand on Karsten Obarski's work.
That's quite different from ripping Ryg's code, hoping nobody would ever find out :) (bad luck, they did...)

-buy +guy
stingray: no idea myself
was about some gfx routines on equinox intros or demos or whatever that were featuring on amiga prods before, beats me now
keops: great job on the repeating stuff!
yeah damn, that was really bad luck indeed (not what you are thinking, since you still didn't get what really happened)
hopefully ryg got it fast and sorted it out with me long ago
it's so easy to be fooled by people when you trust them over years (in my own groups! WTF keops! wtf...), THIS in the end is the real hard part
you think some people is your friend and then some day they fuck you on your back
(2003 what a year!, first this, then I get stollen at breakpoint shortly after that and more shit later on)
and nop it wasn't Checksum and not about sound (ST sources were available so no reverse needed), it was about gfx effects
I think it was some phenomena routines but won't go dig all my magazines now, if you want I can check it out next week (g0t demoparty this weekend Oo)

Evil: well since you're not able to quote properly and basically just talk out of your ass, as usual, I won't pay attention.
Come back when you have a proper quote from this mag instead of something coming out of your fantasies...

again, late late late. this demo ruled for its time. i liked the menu (still really oldschoolish pre-multipart days) and basically all the screens even if this demo as a whole is not so coherent as later equinox prods. thumbs up!
EviL: I asked because it doesn't make sense. Why should they rip Amiga code that uses the blitter for their Atari demos?
Really good prod for that time. Evil (the lame one) : lamers like you should shut up, especially when they are dirty rippers, you loser.
atari demoscene history....
Bien joué l'Atari ! -----> rulez !
vodka ftw ;>
The 3d screen was just totally amazing back then. Rulez big time.
This comment thread is excellent, so thumb up.
3d rulez big time.
esp. that "halfscreen clear" - technique owns.

Enjoyable demo. I especially liked the 3d.
Doesn't work on Steem and on 520 STfm 1Mb. Goes to the screen with a guy with a bottle and then (when I press space) it dies.
Any ideas?
Any ideas?
YERZMYEY: from what I remember, this msa file is wrong and Steem used to have a patch to get around this problem till their authors figured out it worked all fine with a proper disk image of the demo.
I don't have it with me at the moment though, I will have to ask around :D

YERZMYEY: found it, download link updated.
So I'm watching it now. ;)

I don't drink Vodka but i like it ! :p
Oldschool with some great screens!
<3
this looks awesome!
Simply rulez! A classic. Very nice effects which rock this machine.
Amazing what the french dudez made with and out of such a low-level bunch of silicon what the simple Atari ST was...
Nice bunch of oldschool screens. The 3d is nice.
Some cool parts in this demo, overall very nice
Pretty nice, I missed this one back then.
