the second demo i ever saw ... very cool :) it had a scroller that moved over the workbench screen, a nice big in japan .mod-cover and it would stay resident in memory until you switched off your amiga.

Nice, cool, fantastic! I loved it and this was one of the first real amiga demos i saw. I WAS IMPRESSED. Ahh, nice memories. Cool music, gfx and code. Yep, rulez!!

A small complement, for scene newbies :
"scroller that moved over the workbench screen" means : part of the demo had a fully overlayed multitasking effect, featuring drop shadow scrolltext.

Oh man! Can we do such a scrollie running in front of windows desktop???
rulez added on the 2001-11-01 14:52:48 by Optimus Optimus
One of the first demo I run on my beloved a500..

The scroll-on-the-workbench was very impressing. The lens effect too.

I like also the part of the scroller on the screenshot -> "Laurent, t'as une tête de noeud".. :-)

Nearly twenty years after its release, I just found myself singing the "Wild Copper" music. An inspired classic, still fondly remembered today.

One of the first demos I saw on the Amiga. Wild Copper ... The tune was tracked using ST-01 sounds and the integration with the workbench (multitasking!) was a thrill. Totally rulez!

The first thing I ever got to run on my A500 next to the games found in the original pack I got.. Watched it for hours and read all the scrolltexts. Impressive for its days and still a joy to watch - altho the workbench scroller crashes in all its glory if you try it on something above 1.3

Think this one might have been running in a french computer shop called Tecsoft - they're bragging about having the fastest amiga in europe with a 68030. In 1988 :-)

An MP3 of the StarScroll demo is available here (for as long as one person downloads it a week, so it could be here for a while, or gone in a fortnight !):

http://www.sendspace.com/file/utzkyr

And in case anyone is wondering, this is the demo with the immortal "This is Amiga Speaking... W... W... W... W... Wild Copper" sample.

Worbench friendly, all effects are in real time, funny scrolltexts, 1988 ! Lot of fun when watching this demo.

The spinning mouse pointer from hell!

I was so impressed by this disk when I first saw it. It still holds up today, as in I'm not bored with it. Does anyone have the disk with the original intro on it?

I recently salvaged an old A500, beautiful machine from June 1987 and the first software I tested on it was this demo. Had it running for about an hour and just couldn't stop. So much great memories. One of the most influential productions to me personally.

Precious antique. Fantastic what WC (oops, the acronym doesn't sound
so cool) did in the beginning of the early Amiga demo era. My favorite is
definitely the yellow ball scroller.
