a promising attempt - the graphics and music are very well done, but the demo has no real climax, it just ends when it ends. i'll give it a 'rulez' nevertheless.

Even though this demo is everything that I am against (no 2d effects, just camera rides, no synchro etc.) for some reason I liked it.. weird. Cool design, nice film grain effect and music that fits the atmosphere. If you absolutely must make a '3d-demo' then this is the way to do it.

Thanx to the groovy soundtrack and a really nice 3d engine the graphic task was a real fun. Music & grafics where all done in 2 weeks (which means leaving the office then working late at night during two weeks :)

(Some people might find the thing too short. But we don't want some prods with a 5-minutes-ride-per-scene anymore)

it was quite diffrent, and has a very cool theme! soundtrack was good, so was the 3d gfx. but, as previously stated, it missed a climax. but it was a very cool demo!

this demo rulez! i love it! different demo.. great soundtrack, great 3d ideas. final version or more prods of this ghost group please!

sure it's not perfect but it's coherent, original and fun - that's rare, therefore thumbs up!

I like this a LOT, even if it feels 'unfinished'. Finally a good "story" demo, with an atmosphere. Not like these stupid design slideshows of oldschool and newschool effects, eyecandys but truely hollow.

hmmm... I don't understand why everybody gets excited about this demo. It's not a bad one (if I could do that, I'd be happy) and it has some new ideas, that's right. But well, it's far away from what I expected after I read the comments here. I feel it starts really well but then it gets a bit repetitive and it just ends way too soon.

Hehe. That's cool : Pouet is gonna become "fucking subjective". It was about time. I guess people didn't waited for C14 to be subjective, but it's okay for different opinions. Whatever the demo sucks or not, most of time was spent on the engine developpement. The (unfinished) design of this demo is the result of years of training : may be we should stop demomaking :) I'm afraid we will keep up the (painfully) work.

the 'negative' concept could have turned out boring, but this production is just the right size. it also shows how mature 3d can be used as a mean, not as an end. and ++ for the music.

It's not worth watching. Nothing catchy about it, just slow sweeps in 3d showing off that "we have lighting in our 3d engine, worship us".
Unsynced, boring, boring, boring, and did I mention boring?
The 3d looked pretty well modeled, but that was all...
It felt like it would have been more exciting if they'd just supplied the 3ds files and let you rotate them yourself.
There's one good part about it though, and that's that they didn't pain you with it for ages like other groups, but cut it short instead.

Carrion, C14 was not intended to demonstrate any superstar-engine-feature to demoscene. Please.

I will never give you any of my 3ds files, because i did the demo with Lightwave (i know, "it's the same, 'just need to adapt my loader, blahblahblah", but please understand my position, i'm a graphist, it's NOT the same.

I'm happy to see u appreciate my modeling work, unfortunately i don't think it's "well modeled". It's simply average modelisation with a good lights setup. That's why light is so important to me.

U say it's boring, okay, it is. Because there's no real animation ? Do u think it's easier to animate meta-balls than perform realist-character-motion. I think it is, that's why most of scenes are pretty stil.

Fortunately, i'm so slow at work the demo is only 2 minutes long :)

Me i like it, i find it funny ... and that is the important, an enormous landscape with a bone deformated meta-body walking during 5 minutes on a PC with a GF3 ... sorry but i dont like it very much.

It has atmophere, it has a flow, it has good music and an overall nice X-files concept & design.

The only thing I really hate: Why is it THAT short, mhmm? It feels like there is only one chapter of a book, while the rest is missing.

funny. i consider the x-fileage the only flaw in it. luckily there's the everything else and an excellent slightly abrupt ending :)

Oh, and it has every right to be in the top10 too.

i especially like the great soundtrack and the text overlays, and running time is ok.. just a little outtro would have been nice.

I really can't understand the thumbz down comments by some ppl here. This demo is definitly more original than the usual 'my 3D engine rocks more' demo.

Thanx Crest : actually, the engine (is) was really nice in term of image rendering, though it's quite old. But I didn't used the whole features it provides since everything was not relevant to the demo. That's what happens when a graphist works alone on a demo -> "Oh gee, I wanna make images" instead of "Oh gee, wanna do shown my awesome code" :)

Although it's a bit short, I love this demo. I really liked the style, and the way it developes. Thumbs up for sure

J'en viens du couloir 14... c'est glauque.

I give this a "sucks" for two reasons: a) it always crashes my computer after at most 30 seconds (seems to be something weird going with the graphics) and b) what little I saw didn't impress me at all. Perhaps it'd been more enjoyable if I would have been able to actually view it. Sorry. :-/

It aged so so well, in 16 years!!!

In my humble opinion, this dignity aging factor, is due the excellent design, and the use of not so realistic contents:
The abstract and the minimal survive well in time, no matter how powerful the GPU technology becomes. Because the final result is a message, an icon.

The music, perfecly fits in. Perphaps influences from David Holmes, Sunahara, Shadow Dj style...dark and stylish.

Less is more.
