nice idea with the 'envmap', but horribly overused.

Most ported Demo? Anyways, quite nice coherent style. Weird music but it gets better at the approx. half of the demo.

The tune would need less stereo separation and there's visible tearing on the fresco.

Good stuff anyway.
rulez added on the 2006-08-24 11:47:58 by hitchhikr hitchhikr
Since this is originally made for Amiga, the stereo effect can't really be helped if we want to keep this close to the original.

A Fit winner for the compo. Not too mainstream styled.

I'll give a thumb up because the ports actually work and are not too big in size.

Oh ROOZZ? What have you done to your music skills? This music was really the pits :O . I guess you are using some precalculated envmaptables and also a linear palette so you might have added some bilinearfiltering to the texture lookups. Some slow scrolling filtered lights with a different soundtrack could have been more moody.

So this is what a demo made by goths might look like?!

Thumb up for the usual hassle-free MacOS port.

FIT is live? if you port this to Falcon CT63 you'll get thumb up :)
really how hard is to port this demo on Falcon with 68060? what graphics library did you use?
added on the 2006-08-26 05:04:30 by calimero calimero
The source is in the dir so feel free to give it a try :) It's SDL but with very few calls so it should be easy to replace. Unfortunately I had to sell my Falcon some years back already.

Same goes for all your recent productions, I guess? I seem to remember suggesting someone do something like this a while back in Alive Mag, guess people's eyes glazed over before they got to that! ;-)

That's a shame, would have been nice to see a follow-up to the 'Mahabharata' series of demos. Anyway, keep up the great work.

fullscreen doesn't seem to work on a macbook. (resolution switching seems to fail causing everything to be shown fucked up at the top of the screen)

The graphic style is great, but the stupid death-metal like elements almost ruined them completely. Piggy in the end...

added on the 2006-08-30 02:37:43 by DaD1916 DaD1916
too much repitition. and it's mostly a bunch of offsetmaps.. the design is good, though. i only checked on gp2x, but here it could be faster.. did the authors leave the CPU @ 100 ? the silhouette 3d object behind the trees was cool.
added on the 2006-08-30 10:23:00 by earx earx
It is the default speed but as I understood the programs are always run at 200MHz. Perhaps the prod would have been a little faster at 240MHz, but actually the biggest reason for slowdowns is the use of divisions which ARM doesn't support.

marq: thanks for the infos
added on the 2006-08-30 13:11:42 by earx earx
btw: don't you do divides by multiply with inverse? on 56001 it's a must.
added on the 2006-08-30 14:51:17 by earx earx
Now in the dir an optimized GP2X version ("fast") with Paeryn's accelerated SDL and 230MHz default clock rate. Runs a lot nicer.

The fact that it's got so many ports (Dreamcast!) makes up a little for the actual demo itself. I liked it. All that portability must've been quite an effort.
