brazillian demoscene is alive!!!! força aí!
Does not run on my machine.
xernobyl: and that's a reason for thumbing down? just because you can't configure your machine doesn't mean the prod sucks
java.lang.ClassFormatError: F (Bad magic number)
hmm... :/
hmm... :/
doesn't work here either, but almost thumbs up for coding it in bytecode
Java sucks
Bytecode :)
jävla!
Why the hell do you want to do stuff like this in Java? Java sucks, and this could be done in 64 bytes in x86 asm
doesn't work
For DOS we have masterpieces like zooming of Mandelbrot set with AdLib sound in 256 bytes only - Mandelbrot is possible by dement. But here is first 512B Java intro (first release that I see) - congratulations!
Doesn't work under Linux, 'click & play' under Windows (Win98, IE6, j2sdk1.4.1_05).
People who told it sux because it doesn't run: I don't give a thumb down for Atari or C64 prod because it doesn't work on my PC.
Duckers: this could not be done in 64 bytes in x86 Asm. And maybe you can do this? There is m64 by alvaro, but it doesn't display full M-set.

doesn't work here either...
+ cant be many people know how to do this
+ 512 bytes in Java - fantastic
+ some real hacking going on to get it to this size
Respect.
for the technical/hardcore aspect
piggie for not being able to run.
can't run it (firefox&IE), but thumb up for technical aspekt
nice.
but I can't thumb up...
but I can't thumb up...
how do I run this?
can't run it either, but 512b java is kool
Hey yo IE-lamers, try load it in Open Office! ;)
Thumb up for technical aspect, mandelbrots are relly really boring...

I guess it's for the same reason some people make 64k intros when we all have broadband internet connections and huge hard drives, because there is a challenge. Moreover tons of people already did that on PC, you can find dozens of tutorials about it, which is far from being the case in Java.
I haven't done any Java stuff for years but compiling directly the bytecode with Jasmin is a good trick when trying to gain some space. However the downside is that it probably lacks some tables in the header of the class and information some JVM's need for the validation I guess (JMagic would probably remember better)
Nice try.

what Silkut said
Maybe a "compatible" version for the ones with picky JVMs ? ;)
Mighty work.

It doesn't work on my computer. (Java SUN 1.4.2_10 + Firefox)
