just when i wondered where i could find a tracker... ;)
This is it. This is a tracker for modern platforms that lets you draw your own chip instruments. This is good. This also fucking rules. This made me happy.
1000 times better than sk@le. thanks a lot!
a decent tracker for osx, finally!
anyway, i'm still waiting for a proper version of schismtracker ;)

very very good one. a multiplatform tracker with great features and nice gui. thanks guys ;)
Impressed... although right "ctrl" doesnt start the song :(
modules are dead.
yeah, that roxXx
Big thanx for this great FT2-port. Realy roxxx prods!
I love the pda version :)
i'm surprised that this one's out under titan now.
anyway, major thumbs up for that and thanks to peter for including some of my feature requests.

what dlz said... it sure does "feel" like ft2 :)
<3
Just brilliant!
Also very surprised to see this released under the titan label. It does have a scroller though :)
Mature FT2 clone (loading GUS patches?! I forgot about those :)) , looks like something I might actually use from time to time. The interface really needs a kick in the teeth though.

Great effort.
Needless to say, i wrote the first sketch of the music for Sequence with the PocketPC version.
Yes, milytracker team joined us yesterday, after some help we've given to them, for gfx and music. Thanks to you all for the comments!
Great! I waited for years for a tracker like this since ft2 didn´t run on xp anymore.
Thanks a lot for this brilliant piece of software.
darkus:choose the ft2-edit mode in the config to have original ft2-keys.

ft2. <3<3<3
what i've wanted for osx.
what i've wanted for osx.
I just read on the forum that SDL based version is in the pipe (posted on Nov 18th '05) so there is a good chance for a Linux version in the near future. Woo-hoo!
total pwnage
Ayea! What the scene has been waiting for!
IT key-set plz! -_-
how can you say it has anything to do with ft2 when theres no nibbles in it?
Queue nibblers for milkytrackerv00.90.01.lnx.unstable.tar.gz
Great.
VU meters in the tracks (protracker style) is a must! Preferable with an option to turn a sinus wave motion on/off as seen in melons take on ProTracker 'HeartTracker' =)

WORD :D
no nibbles and it takes to much cpu power - piggie
\m/
"tools division" someone is taking themself abit too serious now.
1995 technology. Good.
Excellent work, but.. 640x480 today is a bit small :) And there's no nibbles!!!

Having members who only make tools is taking myself too serious? Euuhhm, excuse me, but we cant release it under the demodivision or the artdivision, since it would not fit in both categories.
Razor 1911 should make a stupidfuckingchildomglol division only for you dubmood. Learn what's respect, and think twice before talking. kthx.
marlowe, whutt? i have a lame amd duron 1ghz cpu and only 256mb ram and it runs like a charm, even with xmount of programs in the background. this is by far the least resource-eating windows tracker i know.
Fun stuff.
I always liked to start tracking on PC but never had the guts to. Maybe it's the time now with this tool? Looks preety slick..

yes, mr. triad pc, i suppose seriousness never was your forte :)
OK, I can appreciate the effort of making a tracker, but this is not even near FT2. I can see some similarities but it stops there. I have a hard time finding the buttons and the subwindows cause they are moved around - uncool. And as a final blow, it played the very first XM I loaded wrong, very wrong.
That reminds me, what player is used for this again? It's not entirely clear to me.
Oh, and I forgot, it's homepage says "100% FastTracker2 compatible" - that is thus a lie!
Psychad:
It is impossible to get an xm replayer to work without problems in the beginning. The format is not all good enough documented by the original coders, usually it takes a year or two to a xmplayer to mature to be fully functional. My guess is that this replayer supports all effects and such documented, but still suffers from the ft2-finetuning.

megadelux: But why then not borrow / look at code from other free players that got this down years ago? Why release the tracker now with the label "100% FastTracker2 compatible" ?
BASS isnt opensourced, FMOD costs money to get the source for (exept minifmod, wich we all know how good it works).
Psychad: the way i understand it, that remark is more or less a statement of intention, and that any mismatches with ft2 sound-rendering is a bug.
Nice work
yes, control bug is annoying (in osx it just wont work) and the two mouse button click on channel viz's are really buggy.
pailes: ok, your reaction was not like I expected (I didn't expect any). I will test it more seriously and get back to you (in private) with everything I find.
hmmm... nice effort. but I just tried to play a few protracker (4 channels) chiptunes with it. And out of the 5 I tried, 3 of them just made MilkyTracker crash (!). i'll send those few exemples as soon as I can find time to do it... having a few bugs on the replaying can be OK, but crashs are a bit more disturbing...
Well good work and plz develop this further.. the world need a new tracker !
<hardfire> plz add a link for download the buggy tunes and we will check and find the way for solve the chash
<Psychad> plz add here a link for download the module that played wrong for you.
We need the modules for check, fix the engine, find crash bugs.. etc.
Its the only way for improve the tracker...
Reviews and oppinions are nice.. but we also need the buggy modules for fix :)

ok.. some strange problem/bugs.. when using the EA1 command to fade a sample in (doing a 4 channel .mod) .. when saving.. it said some shit about being incompatible with .mod format and unable to save!?!?!?
Can't believe it... you roxXx!!!
Cheers pailes - when kmuland said you were putting the 'draw' function in I had to change my underwear, and you delivered the goods. I'd just been using the very fine PDA version until now, but the Win32 might just take over from Sk@le...
Glёp
I'm no musician but it makes a good impression on me.
its sorta cozy
useful
Comes closer to fasttracker II than anything else, great :)
about those mods that crash the program, maybe they are powerpacked or xpk packed? does milkysupport these packer formats? there's an open source powepacker decruncher out that you could use as a reference.
sounds quite good, for a 0.90 version!!
amazing slikcut-smooth speed on a hp ipaq 3190, ARM....
yet another two competitors...
pocketMod a pocketPc Win mobile tracked music player.
SKALE a clone of FT2,or may I say FT3???
Anyway. what's this all about? wich stands or qualifies a good or bad new-school tracker? :
The likeness to the way FT2 plays sound, or the 100% full compliance to the XM,IT,MOD commands+formats?
I'm not a purist, but as there's a fire effect, totozoomer compos out there...might someone could be interested on a FT2 clone wars compo as well? :D

totozoomer lol ...that's an Italian variant ???
cool stuff, the included song sounds way better at 180bpm though :)
oh, and proper FTP keymap plz!
hmm, could it run in 320x240, landscape mode? It would be nice to have it on GP32 or GP2X
i haven't had much time to test it, but this is what i was waiting for for years! a usable tracker with FT2 features on my mac! one thing - i miss the common FT2/PT shift/alt shortcuts to play song/pattern.
great.
Good
Seems to be a good tracker for make 4 or 8 channel amiga-style mods. I tested it a little bit with my own old modules. I dislike that the tracks don´t scroll-up continuously during the playing like protracker or fasttracker do.
@Factor6: set common FT2/PT shift/alt shortcuts on (config->misc->edit mode->Fasttacker II)
Hmm... here it sets my wave volume to 0, and the play button only worked once... now it just goes into "play" mode, and the tracker display doesn't move or any sound get played :-(
(even quitting and restarting doesn't make it work again... in fact even rebooting didn't fix the play button).
(even quitting and restarting doesn't make it work again... in fact even rebooting didn't fix the play button).
factor6, actually...
- in FT2/PT shift was "record pattern". in milky you can achieve the same by hitting space ("rec", aka "edit" in FT2/PT) and then playing the pattern.
- in PT alt was "play song", and the amiga key was "play pattern". in FT2 they mimicked this by mapping "play song" to ctrl and "play pattern" to alt (gr). milky has replicated FT2's way of doing it in the FT2 edit mode.

@xeron
Could be posible add more detailed info about the bug and way for reproduce on milkytracker forum?

I'm not a musican, but I tried this (the OS X version) and it plays Amiga Mods excellent. It also looks great. Thanks a lot. I'm sure it will be very usefull and hopefully it will bring people back to tracking again. Great work.
Very well made prod! Feel the scene spirit with it ;)
like that!
Nice, but on my mac, I can't make key off by pressing 1, can't copy tracks and patterns with cmd/shift+f4..
finally someone made kool shock to my brain. a few seconds ago that thing had a guru meditation. that's sad...
Karsten Obarski certainly didn't foresee that demosceners would still be releasing new mod trackers 20 years later :)
very good tool... works great on my PC and on my PocketPC.. but first i need to go and get me a BlueTooth keyboard
yeah! one of the less pc-tracker i use... VERY GOOD!! reads a ot of fileformats ;)
xD
love
Neat, but the "100% FT2" compatibility claim is a laughing matter. :)
I use this all the time to play and create tunes and it is AWESOME!! It is one of the most used programs on my Start menu! :D
!
Just rules and runs on so many platforms.....
Yay, finally a decent tracker for linux (and many other platforms).
Works great on OS4. Nice tracker! :-)
Nice! Now there's a real tracker for Linux, not just somone's half-finished/abandoned summer project.
Now, if I could just get used to the layout... I started out with Modplug Tracker and for some reason, even though it's been years since I last used it I STILL can't get comfortable with FT2 type interfaces, and keep expecting... well, you know, decently labelled controls. Which sucks because evidently FT2 is the gold standard.

I still use a separate old machine with FT2. Can't be closer to the original than the original.
I'm testing it on my Pegasos II (it can runs it with os4emu) and works perfectly!.
Only have a little problem: Strange colors if I use a 24bit desktop instead of 16bits of colour.
By the way, I love this tracker. Thanks.

!!!
saved my day on the gp2x..!! :) :)
nds? psp?
tmb : surely wont be done under both of these platforms.
so....... how do we get to the visualizer in the psp version? i couldn't puzzle it out.
nice :)
:] nice
hermes: Not that milky is a bad tracker, but if you're into GP, you should also try pigggy.
v 0.95 is great, u keep doing this instead of ur lousy artpacks
instant thumb
I love this piese ( can only talk about PPC version because thats the only device I work with it )
this is my favorite tracker to create tunes... :) and its for free... thats the best on it...

A tracker!
I've just discovered it and now I think this is one of the most important tools on my pc. Hail to the Titan!
cool shit, and i like the fact that i have a FT2 clone tracker on my smartphone now ;]
but I still miss the nibbles game and saving samples as SMP.
But this ROCKS hard!

Awesome tracker!!! Love it!
Best tracker out there.. :)
I love it! my favourite
Although a Nibbles game in it would be great :P

Hmm, is it possible that someone can do a port for PSP that supports usb keyboards (it has a usb port)? That'd be ace... :)
yes, you'll do it rc55.
Nice tracker! Quite well done! :D
Nice tracker like its ported for many systems also :)
my favorite tracker LOL
These memories of FT2. Trying out MT and it all comes back, the keybindings and the workflow. Even better than FT2! Nice job.
<3 this tracker.
Ooops, forgot to thumb this one.
Works great on MorphOS too. :)

huge amounts of work in this.
<3
Don't use it very much, but i like it. Very FT2-like.
what happened to the site? it's not reachable anymore :/
The link is broken o.O
Does anyone have a working link to the latest version and src?

Indeed the site has been down for about 3 days now. Anyway, check here: the Milkytracker forums I also host a download "mirror" there.
Oh, also thumb for the excellentness of this software. I have forgotten to thumb it all these years :)
love love LOVE this tracker - closest thing to winFT that I've ever seen. I use VST-compatible quasi-trackers (modplug, renoise) for a lot of stuff but I was really missing a good, fast basic tracker for chiptunes and simpler stuff.. this nails it!
rulez indeed, but crashes an awful lot on Win7 x64
Absolutely the best ft2-clone out there.
I made my first (and second, for now) tracked music using Milky... Dude, it is AWESOME. It is PLAINLY AWESOME.
It is my tracker of choice! (even with more features, the .it format trackers have interfaces that does not even come near the Milkytracker interface quality...)

BUT YOU
Now make a demo about this beautiful tracker!

Only nibbles is missing...
Tracker.
However there is a bug with the SDL audio output on Haiku-OS. But who uses that anyway...

My tracker of choice.

LOVE indeed.
By all means.
I've just installed it on the Raspberry Pi 2, btw.

Great!!
Why they got stopped updating? I need more update! and add mouse config, nibbles and impulsetracker interfaces :)

A comprehensible and rather easy to use tracker. And it runs on Linux! \O/
