CEWL DEMO! At first i thought its was to dark. But hence, those mirrors inside those 3d scenes rule! That stone tabled statue of C= sign ruled to :D Nice colours in that church! Those laser images were nice to. Little to short. Ended with a black screen after the greetings part. had to press escape. To get back to windows. (is that correct?) Anyway though little dark and short demo it ruled! (made in 40 hours i read to thumps up!! :D

really good texturing and lightmaps, which, one the other hand, make things very static.
the laser-beams and the introductory-effect do not fit the rest of the demo though...
all in all a well-done quicky.

cool atmosphere!
I assume the title stands for "Yet Another Boring 3D Flyby Demo" - kinda fits, although this time it looked good. Gotta take another watch.
The colored windows are beautiful!
+ lightmaps and textures
+ colored windows
+ reflective cubes/planes
- too static
- music
- sun's bloom was often too sudden, next time try gradual exposure adjustment
- laser beams somehow do not fit
- too dark sometimes

cool, but is a little static. tho the scenes are cool, and i loved that laser theatre effect.
That laser part was neat. Too bad the rest was the same old hyperboring flyby "action" that just isn't for me..
Pretty senseless and dull...
has some very nice light/shadows ... good use of the old skool line vectors (wire models) in the laser part, wich is my fav.
if i press f1 while this demo runs, was i supposed to get some sort of debug screen where u can fool around with all camera's animations and stuff??
anyways nice prod!!
anyways nice prod!!
your last prod was lot better.
Well done
launches two windows on run - "finalvision" and "error" - both totally white with no content and no sound (xpsp2/gf6800/1gbram)
was nice
got boring after some time but still worth 2nd place
got boring after some time but still worth 2nd place
worked after a reboot, and i have just one thing to say: return of the mirror-cube! we've missed you! :)
Nice but boring. :)
The textures have improved over previous Smash releases, but the 3d was very cliched and bland.
Just a piggy for me.
Just a piggy for me.
the laser effect is nicely done.
but the rest is OINK!
but the rest is OINK!
really cool. i love that highres textures :D
Wow, a Smash PC demo that...
1) runs
2) is not only a flyby
3) contains at least something interesting (the line/laser part)

I canot believe this boring demo fly-by could finish second !!! Only good scene are projected neon animations of object. I like AEG´s huge scene modelling, but there is only 2 serious scenes, one with spikeball and one with C64 logo
Sonic music is horrible once again.
Sorry but this is serious shit comparing to SLEEPLESS, ADRENALIN, W.KONSTRUKT demos

@Trauma Zero: as you can read in that file called "readme.txt" this demo was done in about ~40h! As always we wanted to release something at Evoke to win the compo-pc for tUM. Flamewars (NOT!) to Plastic that we not win this time.
If you could not believe that this "boring 3d flyby demo" wins the 2nd place try to do something nice entertaining and beat us at some of the upcoming partys so that i can write some bullshit to your release, thank you.
By the way. GarGay wins the washing machine for guessing the title of this one ;)

Great laser part, wich deserves a demo of its own actually...
Yay! This rules to an extent easily unnoticed by a drunken party scener - map-controlled specuar highlights, mirrors, lasers, etc. all very nice. AND: IT IS THE ONLY DEMO SO FAR USING MODERN RENDERING TECHNIQUES THAT RUNS FLUENTLY ON A CRAPPY GF5200. Though probably not important by itself it definately deserves a big fat bonus.
And fukkings to Plastic.
And fukkings to Plastic.
looked nice, the radiosity gave it an ultra-smooth look.
the laser-beams part was creative.
pretty static though and PLEASE, use proper fonts :)
all together: thumbs up!

the first smash designs prod i enjoyed a few moments while watching. perhaps it was the laser-scene..
me not likey
+ excellent technology
+ great lighting (I can feel the sun burning in the outdoor-scene)
+ good sense of self-irony (title)
- music
- static
- too long / unbiased
- looks somehow like a demo of a commercial product.
- water
This is the first sd-production I partly like.

very enjoyable 3d, and more interesting music than usually to expect from sds pc, but... but... WHY THE FONT?! :(
This demo is a paradox: a smash designs demo that i didn't completely hate.
i did enjoy this one enough for the thumb, i guess
Quake 1 (bad) + laser show (good)
The lasershow was quite a fresh idea, the rest is quite standard in my opinion...
That lasershow was done 10 years ago or more in amiga demo's..
But hence, this one is very nice excecuted :D

hmm. strange, i don't remember any laser in the demo ... :((( just nice mirrors and camera movement...
(p3-1.3mhz, xp-sp1, asus v9570 td (fx5700) 512mb, fw 77.72)

Really cool, although adding normalmaps and HDR (or at least overbright) wouldn't hurt. :)
Even if I liked some scenes (nicer textures, window rays), strangely I think it was worse than their other flybyes. There were less things to see. Plain scenes, no effects, the only part I liked is those 2d raylines with animations.
i'm especially rude with people who are genius enough to care about overall presentation.
there have indeed been good scenes, but the plumpness of the presentation was obivous. letting a mirror cube fly around to demonstrate what exactly? the "well" scene was great, but unanimated. the laser show was interesting, but somehow i felt a bit cheated by watching something unreal within something unreal.
there have been ugly flame colors in the beginning and in the end. this spoiled it very much for me.

good for the short time that it was made in, but i dont think i will watch it again.

but... WHY THE FONT?! :(
I recall nothing but insanely bad font choices in almost any other release of SD, so that was actually nothing to be amazed about.
the sd spikeball thing scene looked pretty nice on the bigscreen. and so did the laser beam feedback thing. even though those were pretty much the only 2 scenes of the demo, i think this time it actually worked pretty decently.
so thumbs up for doing something short and nice looking. alot more digestable than the usual shitlong sd style demos.

medicore music, lack of design, lack of everything? hello this font is ugly and else, hmmm it feels a bit empty.
*cough*
But let's just view objectively.
- Nice 3D - as usual, still lacking at least some kind of an extra. (The DTV video stream made it look far better because it contrasted the colors a bit.)
- Fast engine.
- Camera speeds up and slows down at the end of the spline, essentially breaking the consistency into little pieces because the whole demo starts to fluctuate. I don't know if you use 3DSMax or not, but there's a checkbox for "Constant velocity" - it does magic on this.
- Worst font since MS Comic Sans, no typography or anything, everything is written with the same size, weight, kerning, or variants.
- Cheap votefishing attempt with a Commodore-logo.
- Nice lasers.
- Attempted design by placing the greets in the top left but leaving the rest of the screen essentially empty.
- OK music, but still lacking a climax or something which sets the mood - the demo doesn't exploit anything related to it, no sync, no buildup, no interpretation.
- Nice reflections, but in 2005 I kinda expect them to be at least a bit distorted (especially for the water)
All in all, the title still fits. Props for being at least moderately self-critic.
(Footnote to Fzool: typo's are fine, but don't tell me you also accidentally press shift meanwhile...)

Wake up, Neo, your card sucks and what's modern again? Reflections? Simulated volumetric lighting with alphalayers? Lasers?
Sheesh. It's a very solid engine (as seen in the prior productions) with decent rendering speed, but the featureset isn't too fresh-looking. (No offence intended though.)

good atmosphere but somehow lacking in interesting stuff. didnt like the beginning with those... flames? but the laser-show and the second outdoor scene are really nice.

First I thought: "shit, a pure 3d camera flyby".
Then I started seeing interesting details: mirrors, laser beams...
At the end, I was left with a mixed feeling. The demo had some good details, but overall it's so-so. Somehow I wanted to thumb it up, but the feeling wasn't strong enough. So piggie.

It's a beauti.
of course
Liked the colored windows and lightning through them. Static flyby scenes too dark. Laser beam was nice.
I liked that one!
A SD production I like.
Well... another typical high-tech-low-design SDS flyby... But I somewhat like them ;)
Too much 3D flyby for me, it looked nice, but not enough. Piggy
Gargaj : My thoughts exactly.
Average demo with very obvious mistakes, like the typography, repeatition of effects and forgetable music.
I liked the idea of the 'lazer' though.. Hmm...

quite cool
Quite enjoyable. I really liked the spiked ball. Apart from that, I thought it was quite boring...
Where's the vid?
Gargaj: the per-pixel specular hilight. :) Yeah, i know, it's actually not much. The rest is old. But i think the rendering in general looks a tad more grown-up than in the prior SD demos.
I know the card is total crap, but it is so on purpose: so that i can bitch around about each and every demo. :) Secondary reasons are pretty much schizophrenic: all the other cards either produce a bit more heat and my workstation would not be noiseless any more, or they don't run Kolor demos i'm an absolute fan of.

Like it.
Static or not, I enjoyed it.
this is an eye pleasing flybye.
i enjoyed it
why a old chinese element absorbs in the non-oriental scene?!! Give me some examples, not in the way of moron polemics, but illustrate in a futher articulate way. imho this be consider as Yet Another Beetleheaded 3D Hybrid Demo.

great comments, mate. i salute you.
Its nice but very far from being the best smash designs demo.
its been a while since ive seen such decent demo, and the music was cool.
not my piece of cake
nice 3d engine
the scene in the screenshot and the cathedral scene were both great, but there wasn't much else to praise. didn't care much for the "laser show" effect. very close to a rulez tho for the lighting and reflection.
very nice things and some good ideas
very nice demo in my opinion
The usual shit. A tiny little bit more of an "eyecandy" than previous releases, and a noticeable attempt at doing something else that Yet Another Boring 3D Flyby Demo (nice title by the way :) ) with that laser beam thingie. But still lacks of soul.
So piggy.
So piggy.
Utterly boring but the laser part is cool. As is the mirror cube. Music is not my cup of tea.
Cool for me
what stingray said
I liked this - Good courtyard scene with the mirror and lighting. Nice ref to Commodore.

i also like THIS one.! Flyby or not.!
Fuck. I'll thumb it up, I like it.
