WHOAAAAAH !!! This is typically one of those prods which are rocking my old heart... Perfect design, lovely glenz, nice sine on the text, well-done 3D, nice ideas, fabulous chip... I LOVE IT !!! REZ RULEZ !
wahhh, ripped gfx!!1 (See below)
Rules, me likes shiny things.

funky 1man prod. i like the rotozoomer on the cube.
Very simple and relaxing. Looks extremely lovely. Good spirit
yeah !
hehe. true is out there
yay :)
OH BABY!!! Looks and sounds great! Nice mood! Fucking awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
everything is very smooth and perfected. always been fan of zoomers especially when mixed with a fantastic chip tune.
the only down side is the "gl rez" logo, seems to tarnish the overall neatness of everything else.

- looking forward to seeing a 64k with more content ::)
C'est fait avec amour tout ça!! <3

I like it :) small, but beautiful, and the music rocks :)
It's cute but not so much to rave about.
Rez, the master of chiptunes, attacks now the domain of tiny intro and do it with style !
I love this prod !

Mmmm, sweet and oldschool.. and clean.. and.. and.. particles!
I enjoyed it and voted "RULES" for it at BP'05.
Top!
Mais c'est l'age de REZon dites-moi !
rez glows
A musician's first attempt at 3d coding? Looks and sounds (of course) cool! Lovely colors. Gotta love the PEZ tunnel =)
is it good just because it just uses 1/3 of the size available in the compo or because it's the first 3d-coding by a musician, or because it's made by one guy?
i don't think so, this looks like an average boring intro made after reading some tuts on the net...

small, cute, entertaining, rez!
Rez is coming to wet up your pants ! :)

xbit: It's due to the chiptune and the colours that I like it.

I've never been able to resist glenz vectors..
A little gem! Rez, I love your style :)
Too bad it's so short...
Too bad it's so short...
Let's bring this into top 10 with all other keops stuff.
hell yeah! sweet sweet nostalgia!
Loves GlRez ;)
I truely love it :D Great work rez <3<3<3 :D
music is nice of course...
but! using your name as textures is a) 1988-ish b) sucks. and, it is slow on gf4mx. and, now i see the music - which is the only valuable part - is from 2002. and, glenz is definitely something i can only accept in softrender, apart from jokeprods. if this is a joke, i don't get it.

erm, isn't what this little intro is all about, oldskool?

Indeed it has a problem on mx series it seems but Rez did not manage to find out what was wrong yet. Keep in mind that this is his first real prod as a coder, that it's only 20kb and that Rez is initially a musician, not a coder.
Therefore some tolerance with the code compatibility would not hurt ;)
@keops: while i'm keeping that in mind, i don't really care. pouet (and scene in general) is a cruel place. Rez is definitely not a newbie, so he should be able to survive some criticism. maybe he should not release his first tries. although that's a mistake almost all of us make, the difference is, when for example i made my mistake, i was 15, while he is now 30...
about using your own name at every part of the screen: my taste is not _that_ oldschoolish. i however love glenz vectors. the problem is, doing that in opengl (from scratch) is about 10 minutes of work, from which 9 minutes is spent for generating the object itself. this somehow degrades my loved effect...

-> whatever! everything fits somehow!
wow, looks and sounds pretty good
Haha! That's great! The coup de couer rotozoomer is my favorite part, followed by the shiney GLrez logo. The dot overlay is also a nice touch. Overall, it's a really good-looking intro.
Great oldskool feeling on modern hardware! I love this.
so sweet! -- and was recieved really well at the party, boosting the good atmosphere // rez == love!
why don't give a thumb up? :D
nothing fancy, ok prod.

blala: you are being somewhat unfair imo. Any decent coder can code an equivalent intro indeed (and this is his first attempt), but what about the design? What about the music? As a coder, how much time would you need to make a cool chiptune like this one? :)
Rez made everything on his own and I can assure you it does not take only 10 minutes ;)
i don't understand why everything HAS to be groundbreaking or new... this is just a simple little intro, and it makes me happy :)
rulez for 20K
rulez for a 20k first intro made a musician ( a graphist )
=)
Good music, good oldskool feeling. Well done in 20k. Here's your thumb.
Rez: quit resting on your laurels and make a new 64k intro now!
A one man army in the best of taste.
This is one of the few modern demos deserving the label "oldschool".
Waiting for the 64K ...

I want a C64 port. ;)
I want a PSP port! :)

Download link for the linux port added, thanks waffle
I'll second Keops for that Atari ST port ;)
Cute!
So very nice! :)
108.
c'est toujours le rulez.
c'est toujours le rulez.
rez: Sorry for it taking so long. Next time I'll be much faster so start coding glrez 2 ;)
Vieux con's powah :)
I downloaded http://exhouse.untergrund.net/warez/demos/portse/rez/glrez/glrez_by_rez_os_x.zip which is 6.2mb and just does a rotozoomer on my iBook. Something is rotten in the state of Denmark!
DaD1916: the original 20k intro runs on Windows. Linux and MacOS X are only ports :)
DaD1916: it includes frameworks in the bundle so that we don't have to expect the user to have a certain library, in this case sdl and fmod. Just noticed that the bundle contains header files of SDL by accident :)
I like it. It has a nice style, and of course a very nice little chip. :)
DaD1916: oops, looks like I misread your comment, I only read the part about the size :)
Keops: No problems, thumbs up for the Mac port!
Watched the Windows port and it is truely lovely!
Cute! Kudos for the OS X port, but 6.2MB?
cute!
I really really enjoyed this one!
zoi: probably 6.2MB due to the porter being a lazy tard and not removing some useless things from the framework like headers and some odd copies of files.
hey! what a cutie!!
Regarding the OS x port, how do I get past the endless rotozoomer?
DaD1916: It's a bug in FMOD in some OS X versions. Can't really test the bug because it has worked on every single mac I ran it (3 iBooks) but not with anyone else's and I simply don't have time currently to make a workaround for the sound initializing problem.
sweet one ;)
yep
nice
Cute
Still waiting for glRez2...
nice
great stuff
is a go
This is nice tribute to old times. I think of Joyride.
I got the endless rotozoomer aswell :) but cool that you did an osx-port.
Rez knows how!
Rez: at last! :)
Glenz rules
great ogl intro!
This tinytro rocks my box!
I love this classic chip and the nice clean fun design! Way to go, hoping for a glrez2 :-)
I love this classic chip and the nice clean fun design! Way to go, hoping for a glrez2 :-)
The endless rotozoomer is due to a bug in FMOD or SDL(probably the first one). It happens only in a certain conditions which seem to be quite usual but still I have NOT managed to find myself a mac which has the bug. :)
It has something to do with the version of OS X or something.
It has something to do with the version of OS X or something.
simple but i really like it ;) good job
endless rotozoomer with no sound on my macbookpro aswell :(
Got the endless rotozoom on Linux, no sound either.
Nice little intro. And extra thumb for porting it to the ipod video ;)
Holy fuck! Mac OSX port! REZ TU DECHIRES MA POULETTE§!§§1§§§1§§!!
right, something must have happened to pouet's database, because somehow, i have difficulties seeing my comment avec le thumb in here.
was cute!
Very nice!
fun for a while :(
pouet's heart and thumb icons in 2 roto-zooms, overlayed,
chip music,
rez presentation text waved, colorfull,
mapped 3D cube and "GL REZ" logotype in the middle, 3D geometric objects rotating around,
credits waved text and lots of colorful sprites moving around in space,
excellent intro!

Excellent "little" intro, very well executed.
Sad it's too short.
A quand glRez 2 ?
Sad it's too short.
A quand glRez 2 ?
I've found this after listening to the tune on Chipdisk 2, really awesome stuff, maybe a bit short :)
btw: the endless rotozoomer bug seems also to happen on ubuntu 7.10..
Glenz!
Ack! I've seen this so many times, if just to listen to the chip; I can't believe I never thumbed this(/said anything about it)!
Needless to say: it rules!
I love your other chips as well. :D

pirates of the 777 seas!
For me (Linux) it doesn't work in 1024x768 (->endless zoomer) but in 800x600 so if you have problems aswell, you could just try other resolutions.

NICE! Also a 320x240 feature will be so apreciated!
Very nice "firsty" rez!

Getting the prod to work with Linux for dummies:
For the prod to work on Linux you need to have a writeable /dev/dsp. If you have Alsa with OSS compatibility (this is the case for most Linux distros), open a terminal and do this:
If this gives you a /dev/dsp1 instead of /dev/dsp:
Now, you have to see if something is blocking /dev/dsp.
If you don't get an error message and hear white noise, press ctrl+c to stop the white noise. You are now ready to run the demo.
If you get this error:
or a similar one, some program is blocking the audio device. You can find out which program that is by running this command:
The program that is blocking the device will have a line similar to this:
The letter m to the left of the program name indicates that it is blocking the device. Close all programs that block /dev/dsp.
You should now be ready to run the demo. These instructions should work for all demos written to use /dev/dsp, no matter how the demo is accessing it.
For the prod to work on Linux you need to have a writeable /dev/dsp. If you have Alsa with OSS compatibility (this is the case for most Linux distros), open a terminal and do this:
Code:
sudo modprobe snd-pcm-oss
If this gives you a /dev/dsp1 instead of /dev/dsp:
Code:
sudo ln -s /dev/dsp1 /dev/dsp
Now, you have to see if something is blocking /dev/dsp.
Code:
cat /dev/urandom > /dev/dsp

If you get this error:
Code:
bash: /dev/dsp: Device or resource busy
or a similar one, some program is blocking the audio device. You can find out which program that is by running this command:
Code:
fuser -mv /dev/dsp
The program that is blocking the device will have a line similar to this:
