Actually it is quite funny that we started Hugi in 1996, me being an Austrian, just when demoscene activity in Austria stopped! I kind of lived in a fake world throughout all the years :)

Why there is strong German scene but no Austria scene, mindboggles me?
Optimus, I have asked myself the same, and I have no clue! But I think that there was a large Austrian scene in the 1980s (read the Austrian Scene Report by TMB in ZINE #14), and from 1995 on (the year Austria joined the European Union) it was for some reason discouraged in Austria to deal with demoscene related stuff; Austrian computer freaks rather focused on doing stuff to make money. But, this is a mere hypothesis. Perhaps there are other people who have more clue about that.
