The blue print for the even more successful impulse tracker, which in turn was the main inspiration for ztracker.

This is where it all started for me :)
where it started, on pc, for me too :)
i started out with this one on pc, but it never really satisfied me.
same as dalezy. a huge disappointment after the amiga trackers, so i basically continued using protracker until ft2 arrived.
very ugly and user-unfriendly, but it said to have some good functions.
first tracker i ever used!
oh yes!
love at first sight.. or, well.. almost.
I had tried to do music with Octamed and some other trackers on amiga before but this is what really started my tracking 'career'...

ugly!
Each time i hear about screamtracker & co. i think about heatbeat's "soundblaster symphony".
same here: when I finally managed to use it, it turned out to be such a letdown that I went back to MMEDIT (until FT2 came out, that is).
this is also a tracker i can use :)
didnt like it visually so i skipped to FT2. been using ST2 four-channel before tho, lets see if its added:D
I was disappointed about starting on this one because FT2 didn't bother to run on my 486. Finally with the arrival of Impulse Tracker i felt quite satisfied (read: thanking god of all sceners).
tried it a long ago too, but crap
i made two modules in this one and then figured this isn't my thing... thank god for ft2 :D
YEah. we lerarnt this once at an al-kaida's selft destruction seminar :))))))
make more music.
ugly is right, but also groundbreaking as hell. fasttracker kicked its ass rightfully but damn was it nice.
Worst tracker I ever used except for modplug tracker.
I'm still using it! It's so fucking good!
And it made the style for the number of trackers also.... This meanz!!!!

Yes. I learned to track on this one, though I never became good at it.
My first tracker.. I learnt the tracking art with this, then moved to impulse when it appeared :)
FC!
mades me remember old times :')
I liked this one even more than FT2. Not that I managed to make any real music with it... Yet... VOTE!
my first tracker...
One of the only trackers I've ever used to track in. Great work!
The best tracker of that time, great interface. Pity, FC not released it in 1992.
:)
This tracker is a classic.
changed my life.
my favorite pc tracker actually
oh i wrote so much crap using st3
YES
ok tracker.
memories ... and DOS ... hehe
Was my 1ST LOVE!!! With this Tracker I've started to go in the world of music composing and producing!
st3 was a significant enabler for the pc demoscene during the 1990s. i used it a bunch and it was extremely stable. i still miss it.
Studying it now, I find it to be such a sophisticated, detailed and thought out piece of software... Today we are all used to hear large corporations say that only if they exist we can get serious apps. But here we have an application that was made by one person and which is nearly flawless and so rich in features, just to see them at work will require several days of research, if not weeks.

ST3 was always notoriously bug-ridden and quirky. Even the creator(s) said so, iirc.
nah, gathering glöps.
It changed my lifes too. Then Impulse Tracker 2 made it even betters ! (T_T)
tomaes> ST3 was always notoriously bug-ridden …
I don't remember thats.

nobody knows why ppl used that kind of madness
before ft2 came this ruled :)
Good software, I like tracking with this interphace, it helps me sometimes avoid making modules based on schemes.
.
what chavez said
You never forget your first tracker.
Of course
The other "great" PC scene tracker program, and my favorite from usability point of view (compared to FT2), mostly due to the keyboard commands that felt way more natural to me vs. FT2. But of course, ST3 was not perfect, and was technically less advanced than FT. And the bugs .. mmm. Thankfully Impulse Tracker (and much later, Schism Tracker) imitated the user interface. :)
The first Soft wich let me create kwel music out of my mind... probably around 100 .S3M ;)
Good memories. Hundreds of hours listening modules on it.
my first tracker and the first tool i ever made music with. legendary, and the interface wasn't as shit as some claim
remin me impulse tracker, i never used both..
Classic. Respect. Glory.
same as reed, why the fuck they changed effects command name while ALL existing trackers on Amiga used the same naming convention? :(
i just did one s3m chiptune to try it and waited on protracker until FT2 was released :3

Quite a few good tunes were made with that one (by purple motion, skaven, necros or even big jim) so it can't be all that bad.
Obviously rulez apart from the mindboggling bugs in the playback engine.
rez: Because the new effect letters are just BETTER! :D (they are actually more logically ordered, e.g. E slide down / F slide up vs 1 slide up / 2 slide down)...

Saga: That's debateable, imo PT/FT format wins!
The tracker itself... well, I can't use it, but I really like the format itself, and many good musicians did as well :)

S3M
I still use it. Changed my life and will love it until my death! I have composed literally thousands of S3Ms.
