Actually I choosed "40k" as a category because this demo was in the "Other computers" category (LCP is a C64 party). This way I will appear at #1 in this category, and since the demo is 35xxx bytes long (not the DSK file, the file on the disk) it fits nicely in the 40k limit :)

Forgot to say that the ZIP archive actually contains a pre-configured windows emulator so you don't have to download one.

Cool effects and music

I don't know that much about the oric, but this intro/demo is rather amusing =)
The scroller/bars part was pretty well made, as well as the low-res mandelbrot rotozoom =)
(Only drawback: the greets/mandelbrot calculating scene was a little too long for my taste)

Alternative platforms rulez =)

Oh, btw, are there any other major groups/coders that release stuff on this hardware? =)

Great stuff Dbug! Too bad we were leaving before having a chance to vote for it. Although I guess that being alone in the category should have been safe enough ;-)

I am surprised you are still and still releasing on such an unknown platform with no(?) scene. I wish there were such productive sceners on the CPC.

Ah really nice, visualy! ;)

Because the main tune is played really too low, i didn't knew the oric would do it this way, bah. :)
rulez added on the 2004-08-06 19:10:55 by Dma-Sc Dma-Sc
Sorry Dma, forget to tell you about the frequency difference between Oric's and Atari chip. The one in the oric runs at 1mhz instead of 2mhz on the Atari.
But well, your tune is fantasticaly cool anyway, and having your name in an Oric demo was quite a pleasure for me :)
You joined Exocet, Mooz, Jylam and Mermaid in the list of sceners that have done something on the Oric :)

Another great prod from Dbug. This guy is amazgin sometimes, I really enjoyed working with him on barbitoric, and quite sad not to have time to work with him on this one.
/me hugs Dbug strongly, see you all for next Defence-Force / Mandarine co-prod :)

I love the mermaid screen with the LCP letters in the front plane, and the superb mermaid ;-)
I love the color bars screen with the text scrolling under and on top of the bars !
I love the color mandelbrot screen !
Ok, I love all screens ! :-)

Well done, Dbug !

really nice, the mandelbrot-greetings part was amazing, and so was the scroller w/ mermaids pic =)
should be cool to watch it on an original oric, because i couldn't get any sound with my bloody vdm-setup :/

DBug, no worries, next time we'll tweak the tune to make it sounds right on Oric. ;)

dbug, i fixed it back to "demo" since now the party display is sorted by compos and not by prodtypes anymore.

At last I got to see the whole thing :) Never seen it on a real oric so I am not going to thumb it. Nice demo :)

Eurphoric doesn't output a signal my monitor can use here, so I downloaded the mess 0.92 windows port, and ran it in that. It seemed to work OK, except that the sound was crackly (which is a shame).

Seems really nice ;-)

If you have trouble with Euphoric, grab mess from www.mess.org, copy the "basic11b.rom" and the "microdis.rom" into "bios\orica". Run the oric atmos, mount buggyboy.dsk as the first microdisk unit, turn on microdisk in "DIP Switches" and reset. Voilla!

xeron: Nice to hear that "mess" is now usable. All the video tricks are working ??? I should definitively check it then :D

megamies: Well, lot's of work, and been moving to norway too... currently preparing an atari demo ;)

Another impressive Oric prod. Great effects and a cool chiptune by DMA-SC this time. Somehow this seems slow-paced compared to Barbitoric, but maybe it's just the emulator...

That was indeed unusual to see an Oric demo shown on the real hardware, specially in an american party.

I agree with the "world's slowest fractals" (and super slow scroller at the end), I barely managed to finish before the deadline, so there you go...

Now, that the guy said that it was the best Oric demo makes me a bit sad :-/
added on the 2018-11-04 10:02:21 by Dbug Dbug
Wow; awesome demo. The signature Dma-sc track completely mellows it out. Makes me wonder if the Oric has hardware interrupts to do these rasters. Keep it up!
