i liked the 2000 one better... dunno why, it just had a better atmosphere. (talking about the demo-part obviously)

dead link :-(

wow Mike, that's really good too hear! ;-)

Perhaps not really a "scene" production but a really good production anyway. A little boring as a demo but some of the effects looks briliant, for example the one shown in the screenshot.

Is it a dream? 3DMark... a demo. What's the hell is that? Only a commercial benchmark, ranked first in the previous years but, today, which does not represent anything any more.
Come on guys.. lets get serious! Not you, not Pouet!

... and I have nothing against Madonion. I prefer talking about demo spirit from Maturefurk and forget the simple business approach of Madonion's 3DMark.

it's not a demo, it's commercial benchmark.

they used commercial gfx-card-makers's documentations wich must be pay (it is the dev-kit for gamers company)
http://www.pouet.net/user.php?who=2407 quarryman you're a lamer! mind before add some crap to our community database, no commercial products allowed here, only true demoscene art!

if all lamers add not-demoscene products here, one day we will have some stupid shareware games or gfx-card-makers marketing-realtime-exe here :(

Actually the thing is that if you take a look at ATI's demos for the 9500/9600 cards (especily Car Showroom or the RNL demo), you may get surprised that it looks a lot better than most of today's demos. The proper way of avoiding this would be making cooler stuff instead of grumbling enviously on "how commercial" it is.
added on the 2004-03-15 11:42:27 by Gargaj Gargaj
It's probably because the authors of these commercial prods work full-time on them and in some cases opitimize them for a specific gpu.

Then how come that there are still SOME decent looking demos with proper hardware usage? (Cocoon - Coma, for example)
added on the 2004-03-15 12:42:36 by Gargaj Gargaj
because people let aside a part of their own life ( and health ) to work on their projects. It's up to everyone to make that choice but not everybody have the same priorities.

I don't see the problem with this being here. It's a demo made by sceners, but for a reason other than to compete at a scene party. And if they have extra resources to hand, why not use them? I'm sure all sceners would do the same.
added on the 2004-03-15 13:42:48 by Wade Wade
It looks awesome!
And yes, it's done by sceners and especially the demo part is for fun, not for profit.

The demo-side of this benchmark was and still is not at all bad.

Well... this one was between the first, great demo-like ones and the current boring overclockergamer bullshit
added on the 2004-04-23 13:39:29 by T$ T$
hehe... the screenshot should be updated. 5 FPS in the nature scene is out of date ;) the demo part was cool and some part look awesome. Doesn't matter that it became the god of overclocking-gaming lamers (this post is NOT a troll :). It sounds and look cool.

it's really nice.

It's a demo, and a great one, even if it's a part of a commercial benchmark.

Zone, you're just jealous.
